

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed the working visit to Vietnam by Vice President of the German Social Democratic Party Achim Post, President of INTA Bernd Lange and members of the German Social Democratic Party delegation; emphasizing that the visit is of great significance, marking a new milestone in the relationship between the two Parties and countries, promoting the results of the 9th Dialogue between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the German Social Democratic Party held in Germany and practically celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations.

Vice President of the German Social Democratic Party Achim Post and President of INTA Bernd Lange sincerely thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to meet him and expressed his joy at witnessing the development in the cooperative relations between Vietnam - Germany and Vietnam - the European Union (EU) in recent times.

The two sides assessed that 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations, with the cooperation between the two countries developing increasingly deeply, effectively and comprehensively, achieving success on all pillars of cooperation. Vietnam-EU relations have developed well, after 5 years of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) coming into effect, bilateral trade cooperation has made great strides; trade turnover has increased by 12-15% annually.
In the context of complicated developments in the world situation, Vice President of the German Social Democratic Party Achim Post and President of INTA Bernd Lange emphasized that strengthening and developing good friendship relations plays a very important role on the basis of understanding, trust and mutual respect; expressing his belief that the Vietnam - Germany Strategic Partnership, as well as the Vietnam - EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation, will continue to develop strongly in the coming time.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated that Vietnam appreciates and thanks Germany for its support and assistance in recent times, through ODA, as well as cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, green growth, education, environment, and especially vaccine support in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The National Assembly Chairman said that the cooperative relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the German Federal Parliament has developed well in recent times. The two sides regularly maintain delegation exchanges, share legislative and supervisory experiences, and closely coordinate at multilateral parliamentary forums.
The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the SPD’s support for the Vietnam – European Union Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); hoped that the Social Democratic Party of Germany would continue to promote its role and voice so that the German Parliament could soon complete the ratification procedures of this Agreement, opening up new opportunities for cooperation, investment and trade, bringing practical benefits to businesses and people of the two countries.

The Vietnamese National Assembly attaches importance to and learns from the legislative and supervisory experiences of countries with a complete rule of law and institutional framework, including Germany, to apply appropriately in practice. The National Assembly Chairman also emphasized that Vietnam always pays attention to the guidelines and policies of the German Social Democratic Party and the German Federal Government, in which the German Social Democratic Party plays an important role.
The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the maintenance of the Dialogue mechanism between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Social Democratic Party of Germany over the past 14 years, which has become an important channel for exchanging theories and practical experiences between the two Parties; he believed that through this Dialogue and working sessions with Vietnamese partners, the Social Democratic Party of Germany will better understand Vietnam's path of sustainable development, independent, self-reliant, peaceful, cooperative and international integration foreign affairs in the context of many changes in the world.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the EU's consideration of Vietnam as a priority partner in its cooperation policy with the Asia-Pacific region; thanked the EU for providing humanitarian aid of 650,000 Euros to help Vietnam overcome the consequences of recent storms and floods (October 2025). The relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the European Parliament (EP) continues to develop positively, becoming increasingly substantive and effective in the spirit of dialogue, understanding and construction. The two sides have maintained a stable parliamentary dialogue channel on the basis of the Cooperation Agreement signed in 2010, creating an important foundation for enhancing exchanges and promoting mutual understanding.
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that Vietnam and the EU will soon upgrade their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, creating favorable conditions for multifaceted cooperation, not only between Vietnam and the EU but also connecting Southeast Asia and Europe.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Vice Chairman of the German Social Democratic Party Achim Post and Chairman of the European Parliament's International Trade Committee (INTA) Bernd Lange discussed and shared about the organization and apparatus of Vietnam's political system, some main contents in the agenda of the Vietnamese National Assembly at the ongoing 10th Session, the construction of a digital National Assembly... and some regional and international issues of mutual concern.
