Soldiers of the DK1 offshore platform: Protecting the sea, keeping the red flag with a yellow star flying high.

Far from the mainland and loved ones, but with the care and attention of the Party, the State, the army, and the people of the whole country, the material and spiritual lives of the soldiers are increasingly improved. This is also a great source of encouragement for the officers and soldiers of the DK1 offshore platforms to feel more secure in their work and successfully complete their assigned tasks.

The officers and soldiers on the offshore platform maintain a high level of vigilance and combat readiness.

Colonel Do Hong Duyen, Deputy Political Commissar of Naval Region 2, shared: "The officers and soldiers of the DK1 offshore platforms, DK1 Battalion, always uphold the spirit of solidarity, self-reliance, and self-improvement, overcoming difficulties, standing firm at the forefront of the waves and winds, and successfully completing all assigned tasks; promoting the fine qualities and traditions of Uncle Ho's soldiers - the naval soldiers."

At the same time, officers and soldiers always maintain high vigilance, are ready to fight, coordinate closely with other forces, promptly detect, advise, and handle situations effectively; they are a solid support for fishermen to go out to sea, stay at sea, develop the economy, and protect the sovereignty of the country's sea and continental shelf.

Continuing to protect maritime sovereignty, with willpower, determination, and a desire to contribute, each officer and soldier on the offshore platforms becomes more deeply aware of their role and responsibility in fulfilling their assigned duties.

They regularly cultivate strong political resolve and high determination; actively study to improve their skills and meet the requirements of their assigned tasks; promptly advise and propose to superiors policies and measures, and flexibly handle complex situations at sea with appropriate countermeasures, avoiding passivity and surprise in all situations; they perform rescue and relief missions well, are ready to assist fishermen, and the DK1 offshore platforms also effectively implement the program "The Vietnamese Navy as a support for fishermen to venture out to sea and stay there".

Facing numerous challenges and difficulties in their work, along with the harshness of nature, the unwavering will and resilient spirit of the officers and soldiers on the offshore platforms are further affirmed. The camaraderie, internal unity, and solidarity between the military and the people are further strengthened.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Trinh Van Nghi, Deputy Political Officer of the DK1 Battalion: What is special about the offshore platforms is that the soldiers are all proficient in using all types of weapons, equipment, and vehicles in their inventory with the motto "Be good at your own job, know and do well the job of others," to ensure that everyone can replace each other in case of an emergency. The unit always builds a close and united relationship with fishermen, serving as a support for them to go out to sea and maintain their livelihoods.

In times of hardship, people mature and become more creative. There are many interesting stories about the "lessons learned" from soldiers on offshore platforms when growing vegetables, raising chickens, ducks, pigs, pigeons, etc.

Growing vegetables and raising livestock on the DK1 offshore platforms is challenging. The soil for growing vegetables has to be transported from the mainland, and the climate is harsh. The "offshore soldiers" must understand and adapt to changing weather conditions to develop appropriate methods for planting and caring for vegetables, crops, and livestock. Multipurpose gardens and mobile vegetable pots, designed to withstand storms and sea salt, are creatively and effectively implemented by the soldiers. Fertilizer for the vegetables is primarily sourced from livestock and poultry farming, combined with the collection of fallen leaves, old branches, or fruit and vegetable peels, which are chopped up and composted to fertilize the vegetables.

Enduring sun, rain, storms, and the salty sea air, the lush green vegetable gardens with their diverse produce, the meticulously pruned flower pots and ornamental plants, and the orchid arrangements, all imbued with the hard work of the officers and soldiers stationed at the offshore platform, continue to thrive, flourish, and bloom in vibrant colors.

In the face of harsh conditions, the soldiers stationed on the offshore platforms always strive to overcome all difficulties to excellently fulfill their assigned tasks. Having endured trials, many officers and soldiers have had the honor of joining the ranks of the Communist Party of Vietnam . Being admitted to the Party right on the offshore platform is an honor and a source of pride, and it also serves as a motivation for them to continue striving, training, and working better, contributing to building a strong unit.

The ceremony for admitting new Party members on the offshore platforms was simple but extremely solemn and heartwarming. Before the national flag, the Party flag, and the statue of beloved President Ho Chi Minh, the new Party members solemnly swore: "To be absolutely loyal to the revolutionary goals and ideals of the Communist Party of Vietnam; to fulfill the task of firmly protecting the sovereignty of our homeland's seas and islands." That oath is a command, a source of strength reminding them to constantly study, train, strive, uphold traditions, and live up to the name "Ho Chi Minh's Soldiers - Naval Warriors."

Upon completing his duties at the DK1/15 platform, Sergeant Nguyen Tien Trung brought with him a national flag, signed by the officers and soldiers of the platform, as a memento.

Continuing to uphold the traditions of the offshore platform troops, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Van Xanh, Battalion Commander of the DK1 Battalion, stated: All officers and soldiers of the DK1 Battalion in general, and the DK1 offshore platforms in particular, always strive to study and train; constantly improve their skills in all aspects; successfully complete assigned tasks; build clean and strong Party committees and organizations; and live up to the trust of the Party Committee, the Regional Command, the Party committees, the government, the people of the localities, and the contributions and sacrifices of the martyrs and previous generations.

This also serves as a powerful motivation, empowering officers and soldiers at the DK1 offshore platforms to confidently undertake the important task of protecting the sea, ensuring that the red flag with a yellow star always flies high, and affirming the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland amidst the vast ocean on the southern continental shelf of the country.

Honored and proud to be entrusted by the Fatherland with the sacred mission of guarding and protecting the southern sea and continental shelf of the Fatherland, and steadfast in their "Oath to Protect the Sea," under any circumstances, the soldiers at the DK1 offshore platforms always demonstrate willpower, courage, and resilience, standing firm at the forefront of the waves and winds, firmly protecting every inch of land and every stretch of sacred sea of the Fatherland.
