Tonight, December 11, at the Hanoi Opera House, the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists held the Opening Ceremony of the exhibition and announced the awards for the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam 2024."

The event will be broadcast live on VTV4 Foreign Affairs Channel of Vietnam Television, livestreamed on VTV Digital channel and on the
Vietnam Image Promotion Platform (https://vietnam.vn). This is one of the key activities in the human rights communication plan of the Ministry of Information and Communications in 2024.

At the online launching ceremony of the contest in 63 provinces and cities across the country in March 2024, the Organizing Committee of the contest stated that in 2012, the United Nations chose March 20 as the International Day of Happiness at the proposal of Bhutan - a country with a high happiness index based on factors of health, spirit, education, environment and quality of life of its people. Thereby emphasizing the role of happiness and satisfaction in promoting sustainable development and reducing poverty, the importance of happiness and human rights in the policy-making process of each country. Vietnam is currently one of 193 member states of the United Nations committed to supporting, acting, being active and making more efforts to build a fair world, sustainable development and bringing happiness to humanity. Therefore, since its first launch in 2023, the Contest has achieved impressive successes, being widely welcomed and highly appreciated by the public at home and abroad. The goal of the contest is to discover and honor meaningful moments and stories in all aspects of Vietnam's
political , economic, cultural and social life through photos and videos submitted by domestic and international authors, vividly affirming Vietnam's achievements in the field of human rights. At the same time, mobilize the combined strength of all classes of people in the country, the overseas Vietnamese community, and international friends in communication work, promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam, affirming that Vietnam is a peaceful, beautiful country, developing dynamically and a happy country. The criteria for the entries are to promote the image of the country, the Vietnamese people, the cultural and natural values throughout the country; to arouse national pride and the desire for development in all classes of people, to join hands in building an increasingly prosperous, prosperous and happy Vietnam. The entries truthfully and vividly reflect the achievements in all aspects of Vietnam's political, economic, cultural and social life, especially in the process of innovation, development and international integration; to convey valuable knowledge, to attract strong public interest and to have a wide spread at home and abroad. This is the second time the contest has been held. The contest is a vivid demonstration of the deep concern and consistent policy of the Party and State in caring for the material and spiritual life of the people, taking the people as the center, in the spirit of "leaving no one behind." Create favorable conditions for people to participate, contribute, and promote their capacity and intelligence in the cause of national construction, development, protection, and international integration. The contest creates opportunities for people nationwide, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends to express their love for their homeland and country and their enthusiasm in creating photos and videos to promote the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the world. Thereby, arousing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country; promoting cultural values and the strength of the Vietnamese people in the new era. After nearly 7 months of launching the contest, from March 20 to the deadline for receiving works on October 15, the contest has attracted a total of 6,863 authors to participate with 10,327 photo and video works, including 9,657 photo works and 670 video works. Among the participating authors, there are 581 international authors, 265 Vietnamese authors abroad with nearly 1,000 works and more than 50% of the authors have participated in the 2023 contest. After many days of serious and fair work, the Jury and Organizing Committee have selected 60 videos and 150 best photos to display at the exhibition, of which 34 best works were awarded. Each work is an interesting story, an impressive moment or a meaningful message about love for the homeland, country, with pride, love and aspiration for a prosperous and happy life across the S-shaped strip of land of Vietnam.










The total value of the awards for both photo and
video categories is nearly 400 million VND, including 2 Gold medals; 4 Silver medals; 6 Bronze medals, 20 Encouragement prizes. The value of the Gold medal is 70 million VND; Silver medal is 20 million VND; Bronze medal is 10 bronzes; Encouragement prize is 5 million VND and other secondary prizes. After the award ceremony, the selected works will continue to be exhibited domestically and internationally, serving the communication and promotion of Vietnam's achievements in ensuring human rights in 2025./.
