The Ministry of Health, in coordination with the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, solemnly organized the Ceremony to honor outstanding national voluntary blood donors in 2025, with the theme "Donate blood, give hope - Join hands to save people".

Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan spoke at the event.

This is the 17th year this meaningful event has been held on the occasion of International Blood Donor Day (June 14), demonstrating the Party, State and the whole society's deep respect and recognition for the kind-hearted people who have silently shared life with the community through each drop of blood donated.

At the ceremony, 100 outstanding faces representing millions of blood donors nationwide were honored. Among them, there were 29 female delegates and 71 male delegates, the oldest was 60 years old and the youngest was only 28 years old.

Notably, the 100 individuals honored have donated a total of 4,800 units of blood and platelets, an average of 48 times each. These numbers not only demonstrate the perseverance and tenacity in the silent journey of saving lives, but also symbolize the spirit of dedication without expecting anything in return.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health , Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Van Thuan emotionally emphasized that donating blood is not only a noble humanitarian act, but also a living proof of love between people, a manifestation of the spirit of "each drop of blood given - a life left behind".

Each unit of donated blood is a ray of hope, a miracle that gives life to patients who are fighting day and night for their lives. These acts of kindness not only save lives but also connect the community and spread kindness in society.

Over the years, the voluntary blood donation movement in Vietnam has been constantly developing in both breadth and depth. Since 2008, when the Prime Minister issued a decision to establish the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, blood donation in our country has made great strides.

To date, the country has received nearly 20 million units of blood, contributing to ensuring timely blood supply for emergency care and treatment of millions of patients. In the first months of 2025 alone, through major campaigns such as “Red Spring Festival”, “Red Sunday”, “National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 7/4”, the health sector has received nearly 850,000 units of blood, reaching 50% of the annual plan target.

Such impressive results were achieved thanks to the synchronous and effective participation of the entire political system, the close direction of the Party and State leaders, the close coordination of departments, branches, and organizations, and the active participation of agencies, units, and social organizations. But above all, it was thanks to the noble hearts and sharing spirit of millions of people, who were always ready to give their precious drops of blood without expecting anything in return.

Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan expressed his admiration for the silent people who are contributing to sustaining life for the community every day. Among the 100 honored delegates, there are people who have donated blood more than 60, 80, 90, even over 100 times.

They come from all over the country, from remote areas, from the armed forces, the medical sector, businesses, schools, blood donation clubs, and even people with rare blood types. They do not need titles or glory, but their actions have written epics in everyday life, people who live with their hearts and dedicate themselves with love.

Many of them also actively participate in emergency blood donation in situations of natural disasters, epidemics, traffic accidents; at the same time, they actively encourage relatives, friends, and colleagues to participate in blood donation. They spread the message of “giving without expecting anything in return” as a humane reminder of kindness and love in modern society.

Outstanding blood donors are honored.

Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan called on departments, sectors, unions, social organizations and each citizen to continue spreading the voluntary blood donation movement, turning this noble act into a daily cultural beauty.

He suggested that all levels and sectors should pay timely attention to discovering, praising and promoting individuals, families and groups that have made great contributions to blood donation activities. At the same time, every citizen with adequate health conditions should maintain regular and periodic blood donation, so that the act of "donating blood to save lives" can be widely and sustainably promoted throughout society.

Donating blood is a simple but noble act. In each drop of blood given is faith, hope, and continued life. The people honored today are the embodiment of compassion and humanity, living proof of the strength of the community, of the connection of the heart and responsibility to the people and to society. And above all, they are silently continuing to write beautiful stories about humanity, stories that will spread forever...
