General Secretary and President To Lam receives Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of China

On the afternoon of October 18, at the Presidential Palace, General Secretary and President To Lam received Comrade Zhang Jun, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of China, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

At the reception, General Secretary, President Welcoming the visit and work in Vietnam of Comrade Truong Quan, through Comrade Chief Justice, we would like to thank General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and his wife for their warm welcome and good feelings during the recent visit of General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife to China.

The General Secretary and President affirmed that strengthening and developing the increasingly stable and healthy Vietnam-China relationship is of decisive significance to the success of each country and is an important factor contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Pleased with the increasingly good development of the relationship between the two countries in all aspects, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that after the recent visits of high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two States, the Vietnam-China cooperative relationship has been oriented; Vietnam always considers developing friendly and cooperative relations with China as a strategic choice, a top priority in Vietnam's overall foreign policy; no matter how the world changes, the Vietnam-China relationship is still maintained well, the common development of the two countries contributes positively to the peace and stability of the world; to the revolutionary movement and socialist countries in the world.

Emphasize the fact that no matter how the world changes, relationships will change. Affirming that the two countries have a long-standing, comprehensive traditional relationship in all fields; including the judicial field, the Courts of the two countries also have good relations, the General Secretary and President emphasized that Comrade Truong Quan's visit promotes cooperation between the two countries, especially in the judicial field; highly appreciating the results that the Courts of Vietnam and China have achieved over the past time. In particular, during the talks between the two Chief Justices during this visit, the two sides discussed and agreed on many upcoming cooperation contents of the two sectors.

The General Secretary and President also highly appreciated Chief Justice Truong Quan's opinions on cooperation between the two countries in recent times; as well as the similarities between the two countries' judiciaries under the leadership of the Communist Party, for the benefit of the people; affirmed that Vietnam also has a Resolution on building a socialist rule-of-law state; Resolution on judicial reform. Comrade Truong Quan's knowledge and experience in the judicial field and the exchanges and concerns of the Chinese judiciary with new issues and challenges facing them are very correct and appropriate in cooperation between the two countries such as: Climate change and environmental issues; digital transformation issues that have a comprehensive impact on state management as well as social life.

Believing that it is necessary to have a legal system that develops in line with the development of digital transformation; the issue of crimes in digital space, electronic evidence, online trials, etc.; in the context of rapid economic development, the judiciary also needs to develop accordingly, resolving trade issues, international disputes; ensuring a common legal corridor for the economy, the General Secretary and President also highly appreciated the cooperation of the two judicial agencies with many cooperation issues for the common benefit of the development of the two countries. He suggested that the two courts continue to sign cooperation agreements within the framework of common issues between the two countries; in many areas, China has experience that can be exchanged and shared with Vietnam.

The General Secretary and President affirmed that it is necessary to promote judicial and legal cooperation to become an important pillar of cooperation between the two countries; ensuring the Party's absolute, direct, and comprehensive leadership in all activities, including judicial activities.

For his part, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of China Zhang Jun thanked the General Secretary and President for taking the time to meet him; affirming that China and Vietnam are two socialist countries with many similarities.

Comrade Truong Quan emphasized that the opinions expressed by General Secretary and President To Lam are also the wishes of the Party, State and people of the two countries. The judiciary will well implement the orientations and directions in the bilateral relationship that the two countries' senior leaders have established. This visit and work in Vietnam aims to exchange, share and agree on measures to effectively and practically implement the orientations set forth by the leaders of the two Parties and States as well as to well implement the Joint Statement after the recent visit of Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang to Vietnam; including cooperation between the two countries' judicial agencies. The two courts will continue to study cooperation in accordance with the context of the cooperative relationship between the two countries; implement the principle of judicial activities under the leadership of the Party and build a judiciary for the people.

Affirming that the instructions of General Secretary and President To Lam at the meeting were both macro and deeply professional, Chief Justice Truong Quan said he would continue to exchange and share experiences and promote cooperation between the judicial agencies of the two countries.
