The life and career of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always demonstrate the best qualities of a true communist, shining with revolutionary ethics, an exemplary, wise, simple leader, devoted to the revolutionary cause of the Party, and a respected leader of the Vietnamese people.

Live your whole life for the country, for the people

Thoroughly imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's thought that "morality is the root and foundation of a revolutionary," "revolutionary morality is the determination to fight for the Party, for the revolution,... wholeheartedly serving the People. Fighting selflessly for the Party, for the People, being exemplary in everything," Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong lived a meaningful life - living and dedicating his whole life to the Fatherland, for the People.

With 80 years of age, nearly 57 years of Party membership, and 14 years as General Secretary, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, together with the Party Central Committee, has applied and creatively developed Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, constantly building an increasingly clean and strong Party; building a socialist rule-of-law State of the people, by the people, for the people; supplementing, perfecting and successfully leading the implementation of the renovation policy, contributing to building our country increasingly rich and strong.

Regarding Party work and Party building, creatively applying Ho Chi Minh's thought on Party building, he deeply clarified the nature and role of the Party in the cause of national renewal, and in building a ruling Party from the practice of renewal in Vietnam.

Since then, he and the Central Executive Committee have planned and led the successful implementation of strategic policies on Party building and rectification; resolutely and persistently fighting against individualism, degradation within the Party, corruption and negativity; coupled with constantly cultivating revolutionary ethics, promoting fine traditions and a close relationship with the people.

Under the leadership of the Party, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, our Party has demonstrated its mettle and intelligence, leading the entire Party, people and army to gain many great achievements in the cause of national renewal, defeating all sabotage plots of hostile forces.

In the economic field, under the leadership of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, our Party has issued Resolutions on socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of the six economic regions across the country until 2030, with a vision to 2045, planning goals, visions, directions, and solutions to create strong, breakthrough development, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's goals.

In the cultural field, imbued with Ho Chi Minh's ideology, deeply aware of the important position and role of culture "Culture is the soul of the nation", "If culture exists, the nation exists", General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has devoted much effort to building an advanced culture, imbued with national identity, truly the spiritual foundation of society, an endogenous strength, an important driving force for national development.

Under his leadership, the documents of the 13th National Party Congress have comprehensively and deeply mentioned the cultural field; the National Conference on Party Culture after more than 70 years is a milestone connecting the thoughts and actions of the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army to strongly promote the role of culture in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, realizing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.

In the field of diplomacy, with profound political vision and strategic thinking, comrade Nguyen Phu Trong and the Party Central Committee have developed Vietnam's foreign policy thinking; built and developed Vietnam's foreign affairs and diplomacy with the strong identity of "Vietnamese bamboo."

Under the leadership of the Party, directly led by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the identity of “Bamboo Diplomacy” has been strongly promoted, creating historic turning points and qualitative changes in the relations between Vietnam and major partners. Vietnam’s position, prestige and image have been increasingly enhanced in the international arena.

During nearly six decades in the Party, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has repeatedly emphasized: “Honor is the most sacred and noble thing, resolutely opposing individualism, all for the common cause, that is a true communist!”

As he said when receiving the 55-year Party membership badge: “I vow to strive, sacrifice, and be absolutely loyal to the Party's ideals and revolutionary cause for the rest of my life, to cultivate and train myself; to try to study and follow the ideology, morality, and style of President Ho Chi Minh to be worthy of being a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam; as in the lyrics of a song: "If I am a flower, be a sunflower; if I am a bird, be a white dove; if I am a rock, be a diamond; if I am a person, be a communist!"

And just recently, just over a month ago, at a meeting with key leaders, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong discussed and requested all levels and sectors to focus on doing a good job in preparing to direct party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of our Party. In the final days of his life, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was always concerned with the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation; devoted and devoted to the Fatherland, the Party, and the People.

That is why many researchers at home and abroad; cadres, party members or ordinary people, all express their appreciation for the General Secretary - a person who devoted himself to the country and the people, serving the Party and the people until his last breath, without a single day of rest - and affectionately call him "Commander-in-Chief of the people's hearts."

An example of a very ordinary but also very excellent person

Although holding an important position in the Party, in daily life, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong lives a very simple, modest, exemplary and sincere life, very close to the masses.

Despite holding high responsibilities, when returning to his old school, teachers and classmates, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong remains humble and sociable with everyone: “Please allow me to leave all titles outside this room. When I come here, I will forever be your former student.” When visiting his hometown, he respects and listens to the elderly, asks about and encourages the children.

Although he is very busy, whenever he has free time, the General Secretary always takes time to visit and encourage the people in the neighborhood. On holidays and Tet, the General Secretary and the Party cell directly visit and encourage families in special circumstances, war invalids, sick soldiers, veterans, soldiers affected by Agent Orange, and families with meritorious services to the revolution.

Sharing his feelings about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Mr. Nguyen Viet Chuc, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education, said that Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is a very profound, very sociable, very modest, very simple, and very close to everyone. But in that person there is a very special aspiration, which is the aspiration to build a ruling Party, to build a developed country and nation.
