RT reported that on June 16, President Trump issued a warning on the Truth Social platform, calling on people to leave the capital Tehran as soon as possible.

"Iran should have signed the 'deal' I offered them. Simply put, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. I have said it over and over again. Everyone should evacuate Tehran immediately!", President Trump said.

However, the White House boss did not confirm whether the US would directly intervene in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran on June 13, targeting Iranian nuclear and military facilities to “prevent Tehran from pursuing nuclear weapons.” However, Iran denies seeking military nuclear capabilities, insisting that Israel’s airstrikes were a declaration of war, and Tehran responded with a barrage of ballistic missiles targeting Tel Aviv.

President Trump has previously insisted that the US had nothing to do with Israel's attack on Iran but warned Tehran of retaliation "on a scale they've never seen before" if US assets in the region were attacked. He also declined to say what might trigger US military intervention.

Meanwhile, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the deployment of additional "defense capabilities" to the Middle East over the weekend, but did not disclose details.

"Protecting US forces is our top priority and these deployments are intended to strengthen our defense posture in the region," Hegseth wrote on the X network.

The US has reportedly sent more than 30 aerial refuelling aircraft over the Atlantic towards the Middle East, according to Military Watch magazine. The newspaper described the increase as “unprecedented”, suggesting that it could signal wider US involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict.

Israel has reportedly asked the US to directly participate in attacks on Iran. Axios quoted Israeli officials as saying on June 14 that the Israeli air force does not have the bunker-busting bombs needed to destroy Iran's heavily guarded underground nuclear sites, but Washington could provide them.
