VFV waiting for FIVB's move
VFV said: "Official tournaments of VFV and clubs, participating athletes are all registered in the system of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). Therefore, athletes who are not qualified as determined by FIVB will not be allowed to compete in tournaments in the official competition system of VFV until further decision".
The above announcement by VFV means that hitter Dang Thi Hong, captain of the U.21 Vietnam team at the U.21 Women's Volleyball World Cup held in Indonesia in July, will have to stop competing. At the U.21 Women's World Cup, FIVB announced that the U.21 Vietnam team used an ineligible player, so they disqualified this player and forfeited 4 matches of U.21 Vietnam. Neither FIVB nor VFV specifically named the banned athlete, but it was not difficult for experts and fans to identify that it was 19-year-old hitter Dang Thi Hong when she was not named to compete in the remaining stages of the U.21 World Cup. VFV leaders said that Dang Thi Hong was supported by VFV and the management unit Thai Nguyen, creating conditions for her to study at Bac Ninh University of Sports and Physical Education to switch to coaching.

VFV leaders emphasized that the determination of gender disorder for athletes to participate in tournaments in the official competition system of VFV will be carried out after there are specific instructions from FIVB on functional units and conditions to ensure accuracy. Gender testing for tournaments in the VFV system will start from 2026. Mr. Le Tri Truong, General Secretary of VFV, said: "VFV is waiting for instructions from FIVB on testing the gender of female athletes. Currently, in athletics, testing is conducted by analyzing the SRY gene from mucosal samples or dried blood samples of athletes. However, FIVB does not have specific instructions on testing female gender in volleyball. For the Vietnamese women's volleyball team when participating in the 33rd SEA Games, they will be tested in accordance with the regulations of the SEA Games Organizing Committee and the instructions of the Vietnam Sports Administration".
Many opinions say that VFV needs to be proactive in testing for female gender disorder in athletes under suspicion right before the second round of the national volleyball championship taking place in October. VFV needs to identify unqualified athletes and eliminate them from the tournament to create fairness for the tournament. As for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, VFV and the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department are required to conduct gender testing to avoid bad consequences like the unfortunate relegation of the U.21 Vietnam team in the world tournament. It is known that the cost of testing using the SRY gene analysis method is not high (about 2 million VND/sample) and can be done in Vietnam.
Vietnamese women's volleyball team has attracted the attention of fans after a series of impressive achievements in their first participation in the world championship and the U.21 world tournament. Many Vietnamese hitters have affirmed their names and talents in international competitions such as Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Tran Thi Bich Thuy.
