VFV holds important meeting on Vietnamese volleyball
Today (September 11), VFV had a meeting with professional departments, including resolving the issue of U.21 player Dang Thi Hong being eliminated by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) from the U.21 World Cup last July. At that time, the Vietnam U.21 team was heavily affected when FIVB announced that the team had 1 player who was not eligible to compete, disqualifying this player and canceling the competition results, conceding the loss to the Vietnam U.21 team in the matches against U.21 Indonesia, U.21 Argentina, U.21 Canada and U.21 Serbia.

VFV representative said that Dang Thi Hong's case was carefully and thoroughly considered by the departments. Based on FIVB's announcement about the case, VFV decided not to allow athlete Dang Thi Hong to participate in the second phase of the 2025 national championship (in the first phase of the national championship, Dang Thi Hong was loaned by Thai Nguyen Club to the Industrial and Commercial Bank team). This 19-year-old player will also not be allowed to participate in tournaments in the official system of VFV from September 11.
Also according to the VFV representative, from the 2026 season, female volleyball players with suspected gender will be required to be tested. Particularly for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in the upcoming training session for the 33rd SEA Games, if there is a case of suspected gender, it will be tested by analyzing the SRY gene from the athlete's mucosal or dried blood samples. The test is to avoid unfortunate incidents like the recent U.21 team.
