Statistics of banks with the highest savings interest rates today:
Discussing the relationship between interest rates, exchange rates and inflation, Mr. Nguyen Trieu Vinh, CFA, Deputy Director of Investment at Vietcombank Fund Management Company (VCBF) said that these three factors have a mutual impact. Recently, 4 major state-owned banks have reduced the 12-month deposit interest rate for individual customers to 5.3%, the lowest level in many years. Lending interest rates have also decreased significantly.
Some banks are offering home loans with a fixed interest rate of about 8.5% for the first 1-2 years, and working capital loans at about 5%. This is a very positive factor for consumption and investment in Vietnam in the coming time.
"The low interest rate environment will put pressure on inflation. But in my observation, this is not a cause for concern, at least in the next few quarters, because domestic aggregate demand is still weak. We can see this through the rather modest GDP growth in the third quarter. Credit growth is also low despite improvements in the last 1-2 months," said Mr. Nguyen Trieu Vinh.
