On April 8, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee sent a document to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism asking for permission to organize fireworks displays within the framework of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City proposed to organize a high-altitude fireworks display at the Saigon River Park (Thu Duc City) to spread a joyful and exciting atmosphere, contributing to the cultural and spiritual life of people and tourists during the April 30 holiday.
The fireworks display is expected to take place on two Saturday nights (April 19 and April 26), from 9:30 p.m. to 9:40 p.m., with all funding coming from socialized sources, not using the budget.
The program is expected to use 300 high-altitude artillery pieces, 45 low-altitude artillery pieces and 5 pyrotechnic artillery circuits with 35 artillery tubes.
Ho Chi Minh City wants to shoot high-altitude fireworks in the Saigon River park area on the last two days of the weekend (April 19 and April 26).

On the evening of April 30, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City proposed to set off fireworks at 7 locations, including: the area at the beginning of the Saigon River Tunnel (Thu Duc City); Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial Temple (Cu Chi District); Nga Ba Giong Martyrs Memorial Area (Hoc Mon District); Lang Le - Bau Co Relic Site (Binh Chanh District); Can Gio District Football Field; National History - Culture Park (Thu Duc City); Dam Sen Park (District 11).
From April 7, a ceremonial artillery site consisting of 15 cannons was also installed in the Bach Dang wharf park area (opposite Saigon riverside park) to serve the 50th anniversary celebration of the country's reunification taking place on the morning of April 30.
