Ho Chi Minh City requires schools to proactively prevent COVID-19 epidemic

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City requires schools in the area to seriously implement 5 contents in proactively implementing COVID-19 epidemic prevention.

Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education and Training Duong Tri Dung has just signed a document to schools in the area requesting them to proactively implement COVID-19 prevention in the city, in the context of the number of cases showing signs of increasing in some countries in the region.

Accordingly, the department requires units to seriously implement 5 contents.

Firstly, strengthen COVID-19 prevention propaganda for students, teachers, parents... Closely coordinate with local health stations to detect suspected cases early; monitor, detect, investigate people with infectious diseases, monitor pathogens, and handle outbreaks (if any).

Second, note, strengthen protection and support for students with underlying diseases, elderly teachers, people with weak immune systems, underlying diseases, teachers, pregnant women; encourage wearing masks in closed, crowded spaces.

Third, review and update the unit's epidemic prevention plan; continue to implement infection prevention and control according to the People's Committee's documents and professional instructions from the health sector. Ensure adequate antiseptic solutions, medical masks, and organize cleaning of classrooms, toilets, and public areas.

Fourth, strictly follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Health such as: wearing masks in public places, on means of transport, at medical facilities; washing hands regularly with clean water, soap or antiseptic solution; limiting gatherings in crowded places if not necessary... When having symptoms of fever, cough, difficulty breathing, go immediately to the nearest medical facility for timely examination, monitoring and treatment.

Fifth, when detecting a suspected case or unusual situation, schools must immediately report to the Department of Education and Training of the district, county and Thu Duc city and coordinate with local health authorities to handle the situation properly. At the same time, fully implement the information reporting and declaration regime for infectious diseases and epidemics according to regulations.

The Department of Education and Training recommends that units be proactive and flexible in implementation, not creating panic, but still ensuring the health and safety of students and teachers, contributing to stabilizing educational activities.
