133 bus routes operating in Ho Chi Minh City and inter-provincial routes will offer free tickets for passengers on April 30 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.
The information was announced by Mr. Pham Vuong Bao, Deputy Director of the Public Transport Management Center, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport and Public Works, on the afternoon of April 25. This activity aims to show gratitude to passengers and facilitate people to travel and participate in programs organized by the city during the holiday, because many central roads prohibit other types of vehicles according to time frames.
Bus passengers on April 30 will be given free tickets by staff and enjoy full benefits when using public transport services in the city.
The center also requested transport units to ensure bus routes operate according to operating parameters to meet people's travel needs.
Along with the above plan, on the occasion of April 30, the bus system in Ho Chi Minh City will be adjusted to increase or decrease the number of trips to suit the actual travel situation. In particular, many routes will be increased to the central area and traffic hubs, especially the newly opened Tan Son Nhat T3 station.
In addition to buses, from April 25 to May 4, the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro also extended its operating hours from 5am to 11pm and increased the number of trips to meet people's travel needs. On April 30, the tram will run from 4:30am, with more frequent trips to serve customers.
