“Peace is beautiful!” is the main thought of young people in recent days, talking about pride in the language of Gen Z through videos , images, and articles filled with the red flag with yellow star covering social networks and media. Or the case of a young person choosing to cycle from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City on a Thong Nhat bicycle - a brand associated with historical memories, carrying the spirit of “returning to the source” full of gratitude.

Young people in Ho Chi Minh City always know how to express patriotism appropriately.

Thousands of young people in Ho Chi Minh City do not mind the hot weather to volunteer to clean the environment, clean up after each event, festival or "dye red" every alley and street with national flags, Party flags to celebrate the anniversary of reunification.

Nguyen Diem Quynh Nhi (Nguyen Tat Thanh University) shared: I was born in the 25th year of the country's reunification and now - 25 years later, I am fortunate to have lived through those heroic historical moments. I am grateful to this country, to every person here and cherish every moment standing under the Vietnamese sky.

As the representative of the young generation chosen to speak at the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 / April 30, 2025), Nguyen Minh Uyen, Vice President of the Vietnam Student Association in Ho Chi Minh City, emotionally expressed: "We young people are extremely happy and proud to be born, grow up and mature in independence, peace and unity."  

Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union organized the flag-raising ceremony "I love my Fatherland".

At 105 years old, researcher Nguyen Dinh Tu is one of 60 outstanding figures recently honored by Ho Chi Minh City. He has many famous works on history, including those about Ho Chi Minh City such as: "Gia Dinh - Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City: Long Mile of History (1698 - 2020)", "Ho Chi Minh City Streets"... He shared: "In my life of more than a hundred years, I am a witness of the nation having to go through a historical period. I am happy that our country is developing more and more, especially Ho Chi Minh City is always a pioneer and a breakthrough".  

The streets and alleys in the city are bright with red flags with yellow stars.

Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa said: Welcoming the Great Festival is an opportunity for the city's tourism industry to spread gratitude, honor historical values, and welcome domestic and foreign tourists with hospitality, which is a characteristic of the city's people, with the spirit of each citizen as a "tourism ambassador".

Affirmation of belief

50 years after the Great Victory of Spring 1975, Ho Chi Minh City has continuously developed and grown, promoting the revolutionary spirit, dynamism, creativity, constantly striving to overcome many difficulties and challenges to achieve proud achievements. The city's socio-economy has made strong progress and contributed greatly to the economic development of the whole country. By the end of 2024, the city's economic scale will reach about 1.78 million billion VND, the average income per capita will reach more than 7,700 USD, aiming for 8,500 USD by 2025. The city always maintains its role as a major center of economics, finance, trade, services, science - technology, innovation, education - training of the Southern key economic region and the whole country.

In particular, patriotism, dedication, self-reliance, humanity and responsibility for the community are the driving forces for the city to have a new look, new vitality and new stature.

50 years is a journey of courage, intelligence, innovation, creativity, daring to think, daring to do and the aspiration to rise of Ho Chi Minh City. The resonance of the strength of cultural, sports, tourism activities... on this occasion further demonstrates that the city today has the stature of a dynamic, creative, pioneering urban area in the innovation process.

Continuing tradition, Ho Chi Minh City aims to become a modern, dynamic, creative, civilized and affectionate city.
