On the morning of April 25, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City held a press conference to announce and exchange with the authors of 50 typical literary and artistic works on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy said that since September 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has implemented a plan to vote for and commend outstanding literary and artistic works, in order to honor the outstanding contributions of the city's artists and writers during the half-century of formation and development.
Specifically, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has established an electronic information page to vote for the city's outstanding literary and artistic works towards the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
The website is widely promoted through the press system, digital platforms, channels of the Literature and Arts Association, departments, and organizations, in order to reach a diverse audience. Over the voting period, more than 55,000 votes were recorded from the public - demonstrating the interest and support of society for artistic activities.
The city-level voting council has unanimously recognized 50 official literary and artistic works in various fields. Specifically: 5 works in the field of Fine Arts; 5 works in the field of Photography; 5 works in the field of Literature; 5 works in the field of Architecture; 5 works in the field of Literature and Art of Ethnic Minorities; 5 works in the field of Dance; 6 works in the field of Cinema; 7 works in the field of Music and 7 works in the field of Theater.
Sharing at the announcement ceremony, Ms. Duong Cam Thuy, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association, Vice President of the City Literature and Arts Association, said that this activity has profound political and cultural significance to respectfully recognize and praise works of high ideological and artistic value, contributing positively to the sustainable development of the city's literature and arts after the country's reunification.
Through this, Ho Chi Minh City expresses its gratitude for the serious and persistent artistic work of the artists. At the same time, it encourages and motivates the creative force to continue to promote their capacity and enthusiasm to create more quality works, rich in depth, with strong influence in social life.
This is also an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City to recognize and set new requirements and expectations in the process of building and developing the city's literature and arts in the integration period, promoting the development of the cultural industry.
At the press conference, the organizers also held an exchange with prominent authors and works, including: Musician Pham Minh Tuan - author of the song "City of Love and Nostalgia"; People's Artist Huu Danh - author of the opera "Le Cong Ky An"; Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh - representative of the group of authors of the Ceramic Paintings at Ben Duoc Temple and Mr. Tuan Le - Director of "A O Show".
