According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, this year, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam in Ho Chi Minh City is 99,578, an increase of 8,891 candidates compared to last year.
Of these, 1,638 candidates took the exam according to the old program (GDPT 2006) and 97,940 candidates took the exam according to the new program (GDPT 2018).
At the exam site of Nguyen Thuong Hien High School (Tan Binh District), the organization of the mock exam took place seriously.
From 6:30 a.m., many students were present in the school yard, carrying shirt folders containing necessary documents, limiting the amount of backpacks and unnecessary items.

Ton Nu My Duyen, a student of class 12A10, Nguyen Thuong Hien High School, said that she was not under too much pressure when entering the mock exam, but considered this an important practice session to get used to the exam room atmosphere, before entering the real exam taking place at the end of June 2025.
"I registered for two elective subjects, Chemistry and Biology, so I was not too stressed with the two compulsory subjects, Math and Literature. However, this year's Math exam has new question types, so I am very careful. My goal is to get 27 points for the combination of admission to Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy," My Duyen shared.
In the same mood, Le Vo Ha Thi, a student of class 12A2, chose English and Physics as two subjects for admission to Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics . According to Ha Thi, the mock exam is a valuable opportunity for her to review her study results over the past few months.

"After getting the mock test scores, I will focus on reviewing the subjects that I have low scores on. On the contrary, I will feel more confident if my scores reach my set target. I entered the mock test with a fairly relaxed mindset, not with a competitive nature but mainly to re-evaluate my own abilities," Ha Thi expressed.
Mr. Lam Trieu Nghi, Principal of Nguyen Thuong Hien High School, Head of the testing site, informed that the testing site has a total of 29 testing rooms with 692 candidates, who are 12th grade students of the school, participating in the mock test.

Although it was a mock exam, every stage of preparation and organization was carried out seriously like a real exam to help teachers and students get used to the new exam regulations and avoid making mistakes when taking the real exam.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, noted that in case a candidate forgets his/her documents when entering the exam room, the invigilator must not ask the candidate to go home to get them, causing stress for the candidate. Instead, the exam site will have a suitable solution for each case, prioritizing ensuring the rights of the candidate.
In addition, on the second day of the exam (2 elective subjects), there will be many different subjects in one exam room. The invigilator needs to remind candidates to receive the correct exam for the subject they registered for.

"The mock exam is intended to be a rehearsal for all departments, from invigilators, candidates to service departments. High schools will rely on the results of the mock exam to review and have a review plan suitable for each student, helping them best prepare for the real exam," said the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.
