Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan was awarded the French Order of Arts and Literature Officer rank.

Within the framework of the State visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Vietnam, the award ceremony took place solemnly in Hanoi , with the participation of Mr. Le Hai Binh, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and many prominent faces in the film industry.

The Order of Arts and Letters is one of the noble awards of the French Republic, honoring individuals with outstanding contributions to the fields of culture and arts. With the Officer Order - the highest rank in the three categories of this order, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan is recognized for her persistent dedication to Vietnamese cinema and her efforts to strengthen international cooperation, especially with France.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Rachida Dati, French Minister of Culture, affirmed that this Medal is a recognition of an extraordinary journey, the journey of a woman with boundless dedication to cinema, with an influence far beyond the borders of Vietnam. Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan is also a living symbol of the strong bond between the two countries.

Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan is currently the President of the Vietnam Cinema Promotion and Development Association - an organization she founded in 2019 after finishing her term as Director of the Department of Cinema (2012 - 2018). At the same time, she is also the founder and Director of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) - the first annual film festival in Vietnam. DANAFF 2025 will include a special program on international co-production cooperation, accompanied by the French Embassy and the French National Cinema Center.

In her thank you speech, Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan emotionally shared: “I would like to share this joy and honor with everyone! I would like to sincerely thank the French Minister of Culture, the Ambassador and all the leaders and staff of the French Embassy, the French Institute in Vietnam, as well as colleagues, journalists, family and friends - those who have always cared for, supported and accompanied me unconditionally”.

This Officer Medal of Literature and Arts is not only a personal honor for Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan, but also a testament to the increasingly important role of Vietnamese cinema in the world's cultural flow.
