Ho Chi Minh City strives to complete more than 94,000 social housing units in the next 5 years.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just sent a document to the Ministry of Construction reporting on social housing development targets by 2030. Accordingly, the city aims to complete more than 94,000 social housing units between now and 2030 to fulfill the target of 100,000 units assigned by the Prime Minister.

Specifically, from the beginning of the 2021 term to May 2025, Ho Chi Minh City has completed 2,745 social housing units, and is expected to complete 2,874 more units by the end of 2025. Thus, the city needs to complete 94,381 units in the remaining 5 years to achieve the overall target.

In recent times, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and departments and branches have made efforts to focus on removing difficulties and obstacles in legal procedures so that projects can be implemented soon. However, a project from the time of implementing legal procedures to the time of commencement and completion of construction and putting into use takes a long time, from 3 to 5 years.

The city is currently developing the Ho Chi Minh City Housing Development Program for the period 2021 - 2030 and the Housing Development Plan for the period 2026 - 2030, which sets targets for social housing development to increase gradually each year to suit the actual situation. The expected completion schedule is as follows: 9,438 units are expected to be completed in 2026; 14,157 units in 2027; 18,876 units in 2028; 23,595 units in 2029 and 28,315 units in 2030.
