Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai agree to build 3 bridges connecting the 2 localities

(Chinhphu.vn) - With the implementation of investment in the construction of 3 bridges across Dong Nai River, Dong Nai province is drastically implementing infrastructure connecting with Novaland's Aqua City and Nam Long's Izumi projects, forming an urban area in the east of Ho Chi Minh City.

The area planned to build Cai Lai bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai

On April 25, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Dong Nai province had a working session to listen to reports on the implementation of traffic projects connecting the two localities.

At the meeting, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province said that in order to strengthen traffic connection, the two localities discussed and agreed to deploy investment in the construction of 3 bridges over Dong Nai river connecting Dong Nai with Ho Chi Minh City including: Cat Lai ferry replacement bridge (Cat Lai bridge), Dong Nai 2 bridge and Phu My 2 bridge; in which, the most urgent project at present is Cat Lai bridge project.

For this project, Dong Nai province proposed that Ho Chi Minh City balance and allocate the city's budget to immediately implement site clearance work on the Ho Chi Minh City side and handle the adjustment of the 336m section of Nguyen Thi Dinh Street close to the Dong Nai River bank to ensure the technical design factors of the cable-stayed bridge.

On Dong Nai’s side, the province will arrange capital for site clearance and procedures for competent state agencies to implement the construction of Cat Lai Bridge under the BOT form. Dong Nai hopes that the two localities will make efforts to start the project by the end of 2025.

For Dong Nai 2 and Phu My 2 bridges, the two localities agreed to continue reviewing and updating the planning and research, balancing capital, and selecting investment forms for implementation in 2026.

Regarding the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line extension project to Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces, the Department of Construction of Dong Nai province and the Dong Nai Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board are speeding up the project research and implementation progress to strive to start the project in early 2026.

Regarding the railway project connecting Tan Son Nhat International Airport with Long Thanh Airport, Dong Nai proposed that Ho Chi Minh City be the managing agency to implement the project using the city budget.

Dong Nai province also proposed to establish a Steering Committee for the construction of key projects between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, develop regulations, issue plans, and determine the critical path of each project. At the same time, periodically hold quarterly meetings to review progress and promptly handle difficulties and problems.

At the meeting, the leaders of the two localities agreed on the need to invest in connecting transport projects. At the same time, the Department of Construction of Dong Nai province was assigned to coordinate with the Department of Transport and Public Works of Ho Chi Minh City to review, supplement wharves, call for and select investors to participate in exploiting inland waterway transport routes connecting the two localities.

With the implementation of investment in the construction of 3 bridges across Dong Nai River, Dong Nai province is determined to deploy infrastructure connecting with Novaland 's Aqua City projects.

More than 19,000 billion VND to build Cat Lai bridge

Previously, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province sent a document to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City regarding the implementation of traffic connection projects between the two localities. In particular, Dong Nai proposed that Ho Chi Minh City coordinate in implementing projects to build 3 road bridges across the Dong Nai River.

Accordingly, the Cat Lai Ferry Replacement Bridge project aims to create an inter-regional traffic connection route between Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City, to promote the socio-economic development of Dong Nai in particular and the Southern key economic region in general.

The total investment of the project is about 19,391 billion VND, including: Public investment expected for the entire site clearance of the project and the construction of the connecting road from after the Cat Lai bridge toll station (about Km6+300) to the end of the route. Capital for public investment projects is about 10,357 billion VND.

Investment in the form of PPP, BOT contract for the project (range from the beginning of the route to after the toll station about Km6+300) is about 9,034 billion VND, in which the value of participating budget capital is about 4,427 billion VND (accounting for 49.0%), capital mobilized by investors is about 4,607 billion VND (accounting for 51.0%).

Dong Nai 2 Bridge Project aims to strengthen the connection between the two localities, connecting two urban chains along the Dong Nai River (Long Hung urban area, Aquacity, Long Thanh golf urban area, Amata urban area) and urban areas in Thu Duc city.

Dong Nai province proposes to implement the project with 3 components:

Component project 1: Investment in the connecting road section from Go Cong intersection to Dong Nai river, about 5.4km long, with a scale of 6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles, costing about 1,500 billion VND, implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee using the city budget or investing in the form of BT to exploit land funds.

Component project 2: Investment in construction of Dong Nai 2 bridge with a scale of 6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles, costing about 3,500 billion VND. Implemented by Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee in the form of public-private partnership with the participation of Dong Nai provincial budget.

Component project 3: Investment in the connecting road from Dong Nai River to National Highway 51, about 6km long, with 6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles, costing about 1,400 billion VND; implemented by Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee using provincial budget capital or investment in the form of BT to exploit land fund.

Phu My 2 Bridge Project aims to form a new connecting axis between the two localities, sharing traffic for the existing Phu My Bridge. Combined with elevated routes 1, 2, 3 of Ho Chi Minh City and route 25C of Dong Nai, it forms a connecting axis between Tan Son Nhat airport and Long Thanh airport.

The proposed project is implemented with 3 components:

Component project 1: Investing in the road connecting the bridge with Nguyen Huu Tho street to Nha Be river, about 3km long, with a scale of 06 lanes for motor vehicles and 02 lanes for rudimentary vehicles, costing about 1,000 billion VND; implemented by Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee with city budget capital or investment in the form of BT to exploit land fund.

Component project 2: Phu My 2 bridge construction investment project with a scale of 06 motor lanes, 02 rudimentary lanes, costing about 9,500 billion VND; implemented by Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in the form of public-private partnership with the participation of Ho Chi Minh City budget capital.

Component project 3: Investment in the connecting road from Nha Be River to Road 25C, length of about 7.2 km, scale of 6 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles, cost of about 2,500 billion VND; implemented by Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee with provincial budget capital or investment in the form of BT to exploit land fund.
