Ho Chi Minh City and Southern region: Heavy rain will last until May 14

Regarding the cause of heavy rain in Ho Chi Minh City in the early morning of May 10, Mr. Le Dinh Quyet, Head of the Forecast Department, Southern and Central Highlands Hydrometeorological Station, said that the Northwest - Southeast meridional low pressure trough (along the longitude) with an axis through the North and the South East Sea area is gradually becoming stronger, dominating the weather in the South. The Southwest wind has medium intensity. This weather system usually causes rain in the late afternoon and night, but sometimes it rains in the early morning, depending on the activity as well as the interaction between the systems, creating small-scale disturbances. When the conditions (temperature and humidity) reach the saturation threshold, rain will occur.

The cause of this rain is the combination of the low-level southwest wind pushing moisture from the sea, the low-pressure trough with an axis nearly parallel to the Earth's longitude line, these two weather patterns interact with each other causing disturbances.

In the next few days, the Northwest-Southeast low pressure trough with an axis through the North and the South East Sea will gradually become stronger, dominating the weather in the South. The Southwest wind will have a weak average intensity. Above, the subtropical high pressure with an axis through the Central region will have a stable intensity, around May 11 it will tend to move south and gradually weaken, until around May 14 and 15 it will encroach on the West and have an axis across the South - Central Central region.

Weather in Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern region: Cloudy, sunny days. From May 10 to 14, rain will increase in area and amount, with showers and thunderstorms in many places, with moderate to heavy rain and very heavy rain in some places. In the following days, rain will decrease, with only sporadic occurrences, with moderate to heavy rain in some places. During thunderstorms, be on guard against strong gusts of wind, whirlwinds, lightning and hail.
