Previously, as VietNamnet reported, 654 excellent students of grades 10 and 11 at Thai Phien High School signed to receive a bonus of 200,000 VND/student but each student only received 20 notebooks. The total amount spent on notebooks was 138.4 million VND with a quantity of 13,840 notebooks. According to the reflection, in reality, notebooks on the market only cost 6,000 VND/book.

The Department of Education and Training of Da Nang has inspected the management of the principal of Thai Phien High School. According to the conclusion, Thai Phien High School did not conduct bidding through the National Bidding Network. The act of allowing students to sign for cash but receive notebooks was not in accordance with the payment records. The Department requested Mr. Nguyen Ba Hao to return the entire amount of 138.4 million VND to the students who signed for money but received notebooks. The practice of rewarding students by having students sign for cash but discovering objects was stopped.

On August 23, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang said that the Department had discovered a number of violations by the principal in school management and administration, including awarding awards to students at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

The Department has issued a document requesting the principal of Thai Phien High School to urgently overcome shortcomings and limitations, and report to the Department specifically on the implementation roadmap and results. After the principal of Thai Phien High School overcomes the limitations and has a full report, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang will proceed with the next steps in accordance with regulations.
