Tran Thanh Trung was eliminated, coach Kim Sang Sik called Bui Vi Hao to join U22 Vietnam

The list of U22 Vietnam players gathering in November for SEA Games 33 includes the return of striker Bui Vi Hao after a long time off due to injury.

On the afternoon of November 6, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the preliminary list of the Vietnam U22 team to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games. The list includes 26 players, bringing together a series of elite faces from V-League clubs and the Vietnam national team.

Among them are Tran Trung Kien, Nguyen Hieu Minh, Nguyen Nhat Minh, Pham Ly Duc, Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Phi Hoang, Nguyen Thanh Nhan and Nguyen Dinh Bac. These are players who have been called up to the Vietnam national team in recent training sessions, some of whom have officially played in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

The rest are outstanding players in the journey to win the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and qualify for the 2026 Asian U23 Championship, including Le Van Thuan, Nguyen Ngoc My, Nguyen Quoc Viet, Viktor Le...

The notable point in this list is the return of striker Bui Vi Hao after nearly a year off football due to injury. Hao had surgery earlier this year and has now recovered so he was called up for a check-up by Coach Kim.

If he meets the requirements, Vi Hao promises to increase the attacking power of U22 Vietnam, especially in the context of the whole team aiming to compete for the gold medal at SEA Games 33.

Regarding the case of Vietnamese-American player Tran Thanh Trung, initially, he was included in the list by coach Kim Sang Sik, but due to a recent injury in the V-League, Thanh Trung had to stay home.

U22 Vietnam will gather on November 9 under the leadership of acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh, then go to China to participate in the four-team friendly tournament CFA Team China Panda Cup 2025.

This tournament will take place in Chengdu (Sichuan province, China). U22 Vietnam will meet U22 China, U22 Uzbekistan and U22 Korea on November 12, 15 and 18 respectively.

After that, U22 Vietnam will return to Vietnam to train in Vung Tau from November 23, then leave for Thailand on December 2 to attend SEA Games 33. Before going to Thailand, Coach Kim will reduce the list of U22 Vietnam to about 23 players.
