Tran Yen has nearly 10 hectares of new lotus varieties.

To increase income and motivate localities to develop tourism, in late April, Thanh Thinh and Minh Quan communes, Tran Yen district have mobilized forces to plant more than 5 hectares of new lotus varieties.

Accordingly, Thanh Thinh commune mobilized forces to plant 3.6 hectares of lotus in 2 households; Minh Quan commune planted 1.5 hectares in 3 households. The lotus varieties planted in this period are mainly Super Lotus, White Quan Am, and Dong Thap Pink Lotus.

Through experimental planting in Van Hoi and Viet Hong communes in 2024, it was shown that new lotus varieties are suitable for planting in ponds, lakes, and low-lying fields. The characteristics of these lotus varieties are large, fragrant flowers. The flowers are durable and beautiful, and the flowering time is 3-4 months longer than native varieties. Up to now, Tran Yen district has nearly 10 hectares of new lotus varieties. With the outstanding characteristics of lotus varieties, promoting the advantage of suitable pond area, in the coming time, Tran Yen district will continue to mobilize people to expand the lotus growing area.
