Hoa Son Bridge is constructed at the narrowest position of Da River reservoir, connecting the two banks of Tien Phong commune and Tan Mai commune.
On the morning of September 29, 2024, at Xeo hamlet, Cao Son commune, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau Expressway Project (Km19+000 - Km53+000 section through the old Hoa Binh province, now Phu Tho province). The project starts at Km 19+00 in Da Bac commune, ends at Km 53+00, connecting with the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau road construction investment project in Son La province. Nearly a year after the groundbreaking date, the construction of the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau Expressway is being actively implemented, especially in the Hoa Son bridge construction area.
Construction is carried out on steep and rugged mountainous terrain.
Mr. Ngo Xuan Dung, Trung Chinh Trading & Construction Co., Ltd. - the construction unit of Hoa Son Bridge said: After the locality basically completed the site clearance work, in April 2025 we started transporting machinery and equipment to the construction site. Because the road from Da Bac commune to here is more than 50km long, winding, steep, narrow, and seriously degraded, we had to transport machinery and equipment by waterway from Thung Nai port to the construction site. Many oversized equipment and machinery had to be disassembled, cut into small pieces, then brought here to be welded and reassembled. In June 2025 we officially started construction.
Machinery and equipment have been fully assembled to ensure construction.
At the Hoa Son bridge construction site, there are currently 150 workers and 50 engineers divided into 3 shifts, 4 teams with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain" determined to overcome difficulties to complete the project on schedule.
The transformer station was completed and put into use, providing stable power for the project.
Engineer Tu Duc Hieu - in charge of safety of Hoa Son bridge project said: Hoa Son bridge project is constructed on rugged river and mountain terrain, so along with speeding up progress, ensuring technical and quality, we especially attach importance to and strictly implement labor safety work. Because the construction is on the river, 100% of workers and engineers must wear life jackets and strictly comply with other labor safety regulations. Currently, the construction unit is drilling bored piles for pillars B8 and B9. These are the two most important towers of Hoa Son bridge. In recent days, the water level of Hoa Binh lake at the construction site has dropped, forcing the unit to adjust the construction plan to ensure quality and progress.
Some households in Tan Mai commune have not agreed with the site clearance work, causing difficulties for the construction of Hoa Son bridge.
In addition to the advantages and high determination of the construction unit, the construction of Hoa Son bridge is currently facing difficulties, which is that the site clearance work has just been completed in Tien Phong commune, while in Tan Mai commune, there are still some households that have not agreed. If this "bottleneck" is not resolved promptly, it will greatly affect the construction progress of Hoa Son bridge in particular and the entire Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway in general.
