Implementing the Resolution approving the adjustment of the National Power Development Plan

At the conference, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced and summarized some revised contents of the adjusted Power Plan VIII.

Accordingly, the general goal of the Plan is to firmly ensure national energy security, meet the requirements of socio -economic development and industrialization, modernization of the country, and aim for electricity export.

Building smart grids, advanced power system management in line with the world's green transformation trends, emission reduction, and scientific and technological development...

Providing enough electricity for domestic demand, meeting socio-economic development goals with an average GDP growth rate of about 10%/year in the period 2026 - 2030...

By 2030, strive to have the reliability of electricity supply in the top 4 leading countries in ASEAN, the electricity access index in the top 3 leading countries in ASEAN; 50% of office buildings and 50% of houses use self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power...

Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized that the approved adjusted Power Plan VIII creates room for a legal corridor in implementing power projects. Therefore, he requested localities to focus on directing the review and updating of power grid sources into the provincial planning and related local planning to have a basis for implementation.

Urgently approve policies and select investors for power projects; arrange land funds, carry out site clearance well, and ensure the progress of power projects. Focus on resolving difficulties in renewable energy projects; proactively replace slow-progressing projects, ensure electricity supply and contribute to strengthening national energy security...

Relevant ministries and branches are requested to actively coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to study, review, amend and supplement relevant legal regulations; develop mechanisms to encourage the development of renewable energy and new energy to serve export needs.

Units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade continue to perform well their management functions and guide localities in implementation. Strengthen communication and dissemination of the contents of the adjusted Power Plan VIII to create social consensus, unify the vision, and ensure the set goals.

In particular, Vietnam Electricity Group focuses resources, coordinates with units and localities to accelerate the progress of assigned projects. Review and propose adjustments to the electricity price framework to suit market developments and investors.
