Implementing the National Power Development Plan

(Baoquangngai.vn) - Leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade affirmed that the Adjustment of the National Power Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, is a prerequisite for localities to proactively plan land and infrastructure and for manufacturing industries to have access to stable electricity at reasonable prices.

On the afternoon of April 28, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held a national online conference to implement Decision 768/QD-TTg dated April 15, 2025 of the Prime Minister approving the Adjustment of the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (Adjustment of Power Plan VIII). The leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade chaired the conference at the Quang Ngai bridge point under the authorization of the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee.

At the conference, the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade stated the objectives, significance and importance of the Adjustment of the 8th Electricity Plan; affirmed that electricity is an important infrastructure, electricity development must be one step ahead, creating a foundation to promote rapid and sustainable development of the country, build an independent and self-reliant economy , improve people's lives and ensure national defense and security. This is a prerequisite for investors to feel secure, for localities to proactively plan land and infrastructure and for manufacturing industries to have access to stable electricity at reasonable prices.

The planning has a long-term, effective and sustainable strategic vision; putting national and ethnic interests first and foremost. The goal is to ensure national energy security, meeting the requirements of economic and social development, industrialization and modernization of the country.

At the conference, representatives of the leaders of the provinces included in the Adjusted Power Plan VIII discussed the orientations for power development, and recommended to the Ministry of Industry and Trade a number of difficulties and obstacles that need to be addressed to develop power projects according to the approved plan. Vietnam Electricity Group requested that localities focus on urging investors to speed up slow-progressing energy projects, and actively coordinate to provide electricity demand so that the group can proactively deploy solutions to meet them.

At the end of the conference, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requested relevant localities and state-owned corporations to strengthen the dissemination of the Adjustment of the Power Plan VIII; widely publicize the contents to unify the vision and fully implement the set goals. The Ministry of Industry and Trade will closely monitor the implementation of this plan and propose to competent authorities to amend, supplement, and adjust appropriate mechanisms and policies, as well as resolve difficulties so that the power industry can develop in the right direction.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade also requested that Vietnam Electricity Group invest in upgrading power transmission infrastructure to ensure transmission and grid connection when power source projects come into operation.
