Ministry of Construction works with localities on progress of Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway

STO - On the afternoon of May 30, in Can Tho city, the Ministry of Construction had a working session with the provinces of An Giang, Hau Giang, Soc Trang and Can Tho city on the progress of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway. Attending the meeting were comrade Vuong Quoc Nam - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province and related departments and branches.

At the meeting, representatives of localities reported on the progress of the component sections. Up to now, An Giang and Hau Giang provinces have basically met the set schedule. In Soc Trang alone, the construction of 4 construction packages of the project has achieved a value of more than 2,500/nearly 8,100 billion VND, reaching 31.4% of the contract value... The capital allocated from the beginning of implementation to 2025 is more than 7,200 billion VND; disbursement from the beginning of the project to date is more than 4,200/7,200 billion VND according to the capital plan arranged until the end of 2025, reaching 58.6% of the plan (including site clearance costs). Can Tho City is about 10% behind schedule. The main reason is the shortage of sand for filling. Faced with this situation, localities have proposed many technical solutions such as sand loading combined with vacuum suction, or adjusting the design from wick to using cement and soil piles to shorten the time to treat weak ground, contributing to speeding up the project's progress.

Speaking at the meeting, the leaders of the Ministry of Construction acknowledged the efforts of the localities, while emphasizing that the overall progress has not yet met the set requirements. The Ministry shared the difficulties encountered, especially when this is the first time the localities are investors in a key expressway project, and committed to continue to provide technical and legal support throughout the implementation process. The Ministry of Construction requested that the localities and investors urgently review and select the optimal technical solution, suitable to actual conditions, especially in the context of the current shortage of sand resources. At the same time, the Ministry requested that the localities agree to apply a common technical solution for all 4 component projects to ensure consistency across the route. The localities quickly complete the plan to select the investment unit for the rest stop in accordance with regulations. The ministries and branches will continue to accompany and support the localities in ensuring the project's progress according to the Government's direction.
