Exhibition of hundreds of paintings by famous painter Le Ba Dang 'repatriated' from France

On the morning of July 7, the People's Committee of Trieu Phong District (Quang Tri) and the family of the late famous painter Le Ba Dang organized an art exhibition with the theme "Aspiration for Peace " in the famous painter's hometown in Bich La Dong village (Trieu Dong commune, Trieu Phong District).

This is the third time that the works of the famous painter Le Ba Dang have been exhibited in his hometown. The first time was in 1992, after more than half a century away from his homeland, he returned for the first time and held an exhibition in his birthplace. The second time was in 2021, when his family held a small exhibition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the famous painter's birth.

According to the Organizing Committee, this exhibition has two outstanding features: scale and diversity. Notably, among the 150 works on display, for the first time, viewers will be able to enjoy 100 unique works by the famous artist, newly brought back from France.

This exhibition aims to spread and promote the artistic values of the famous painter Le Ba Dang, honoring his contributions to the anti-war movements, supporting the resistance war to protect independence and national liberation in Vietnam.

At the same time, it helps people of all walks of life and tourists access his works of art, especially works against war and wishing for peace. From there, it honors the value of peace, calling on everyone to join hands to fight, preserve, and build a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable life for the homeland of humanity.

Mr. Le Hong Phuong, representative of the family of the late famous painter Le Ba Dang, said that the works from the splendid capital of France were brought back to his homeland for the first time, displayed among the gardens and fields, once again "telling" us about the artist's deep love for his country and homeland even though he had left this earthly world to go to the land of white clouds.

Famous painter Le Ba Dang (1921 - 2015) was born in Bich La village, and moved to France in 1939. After graduating from the University of Fine Arts of Toulouse (France), he became a famous painter in Europe, organized many painting exhibitions around the world and was evaluated by critics as a master painter of the two worlds of East and West.

The famous painter Le Ba Dang lived abroad for 70 years, but all his works were related to Vietnam. From the legendary Saint Giong to the majestic Truong Son, from rice grains and areca nuts to the feet of Giao Chi... Currently, the Trieu Phong district government and his family really want to fulfill his wish when he was alive: to build a Le Ba Dang museum right in his hometown.
