
Accordingly, on Provincial Road 587, there are 4 damaged roadbeds and landslides at the following locations: Km5+200, Km6+300, Km10+600 and Km13+100. Of which, at Km5+200, the roadbed is severely damaged, a nearly 3m deep hole appears halfway down the road due to erosion caused by rainwater pouring down from above. The erosion in this area extends for more than 10m along the roadside, causing many difficulties for people to travel.
In addition, the underground overflow area at Km1+700 of DT.687 route is severely damaged, deeply gouged, creating a frog's jaw with the potential risk of collapse. The bridge abutment to Ruong village, block 6 and Tran Hoang street is cracked; on Pham Ngu Lao concrete road, there is subsidence and deep cracks.

In particular, in the area of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thuong's family (residing in Block 2, Khe Sanh Commune), there was a serious subsidence and landslide. Mrs. Thuong said that she had lived here for more than 10 years but the landslide had never been as serious as this year. Heavy rains over the past few days had caused cracks to appear in part of her family's yard. By the early morning of November 5, the family's large yard had subsided; there were long cracks on the walls and floor.
Vice Chairman of Khe Sanh Commune People's Committee Nguyen Anh Cu said that for households experiencing subsidence, the commune has directed the specialized department and the police, military , and grassroots shock forces to coordinate to support the families in evacuating people and property to a safe place. As for the landslides on Provincial Road 587, the locality has reported and recommended that the authorities take remedial and handling measures soon.
In the immediate future, the locality will coordinate with the authorities to temporarily reinforce the landslide areas, fence them, and install warning signs to ensure the safety of people and vehicles. Currently, the People's Committee of Khe Sanh commune has evacuated 4 households with 14 members in Ta Rung village and 1 household with 4 members in block 2 to a safe place.
According to the Quang Tri Provincial Civil Defense Command, the province currently has 40 landslides, 71 flooded areas; more than 10,900 households are flooded; 433 households with 1,333 people are isolated and 65 schools have closed. The province is focusing on overcoming the consequences of floods and proactively responding to storm No. 13; at the same time, directing units and localities to monitor weather developments to deploy response plans according to the 4-on-the-spot motto; be ready to deploy plans to evacuate people from dangerous areas when situations arise.
Along with that, the province directed communes and wards to urgently organize environmental sanitation with the spirit of "cleaning up as the water recedes", urgently disinfecting to prevent epidemics. In addition, localities coordinated with functional forces to organize the restoration of essential infrastructure, visit and encourage affected families; review and summarize the number of households in need of food and drinking water support, and arrange temporary accommodation; absolutely do not let people go hungry, cold, or have no place to live, especially in isolated areas.
