Vietnam's largest fish sauce hotpot performance at the U Minh Forest Scent event

On April 25, at Huong Tram tourist area in Nguyen Phich commune, U Minh district, the units coordinated to open the U Minh Forest Fragrance Festival 2025 with the theme of U Minh Ha Colors.

U Minh is a land blessed by nature, with rich and diverse resources and vast green forests.

U Minh is also a revolutionary base area, a place of protection, study and work for many revolutionary soldiers.

When mentioning U Minh, we must mention the traditional profession of beekeeping which has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.

U Minh forest honey and U Minh fish sauce hotpot have been recognized as one of the 100 Vietnamese specialty gifts, and recognized by the Vietnam Record Association as the largest honeycomb and fish sauce hotpot in Vietnam.

Mr. Giang Hoang Hon (Huong Tram eco-tourism site, U Minh district, Ca Mau province) is the owner of U Minh fish sauce hotpot, recognized as the largest fish sauce hotpot in Vietnam - said that the hotpot is elaborately and meticulously prepared, with a large hotpot with a diameter of 125cm, height of 40cm, containing about 50 liters of water, the hotpot uses 18kg of fish sauce.

Ingredients used for fish sauce hotpot include: freshwater fish sauce, shrimp, snakehead fish, perch, eel, pork belly, squid...

In particular, there are over 30 types of vegetables to prepare and dip in hot pot such as eggplant, bitter melon, winged beans, water lily, water spinach, sweet potato leaves, coconut leaves, wild morning glory, wild bitter vegetables, water celery, young shoots, coriander, banana blossom, banana tree, water fern, cool vegetables, water hyacinth, sesbania flowers, water spinach, lemongrass...

"There are more than 200 fresh coconuts to get the water to cook hotpot. Hotpot with fish sauce cooked with fresh coconut water will give a cool sweet taste, mixed with the salty taste of fish sauce will be an unmistakable flavor", Mr. Hon shared the secret.

"Recreating the largest fish sauce hotpot in Vietnam and letting diners enjoy it will contribute to promoting the image of the land and people of U Minh to domestic and foreign tourists. This is an opportunity to preserve and promote the cultural and historical values ​​of U Minh, thereby promoting the image of a close, safe and friendly forest land," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Liem - Vice Chairman of U Minh District People's Committee.

Thai Xuan Dinh - Khanh Tien commune, U Minh district, Ca Mau province - said that this was the first time he went to a rural market and saw that it was very bustling, with a variety of goods, the fish sauce hotpot was so special, he ate it once and remembered it forever, recalling childhood memories.

In addition to promoting U Minh hotpot, the organizers also recreated the rural market with all the products of the U Minh forest land. The dishes are a connecting thread, evoking the memories of many people about the difficult time attached to the forest land.
