In the context that the Brigade had to ensure food for many subjects with different food prices, the dining system and warehouse were limited and the serving troops were mainly non-professional forces, Captain Nguyen Van Thang advised on building a flexible menu, suitable for taste and climate conditions. He also proposed organizing "Delicious cooking, beautiful decoration" competitions between kitchens to improve the skills of the military feeding team. Thanks to that, the unit always ensured full food standards, the average food quantity always met and exceeded the set target.

Not only good at managing meals, Captain Nguyen Van Thang is also the "architect" of many initiatives and technical improvements that bring practical results. He regularly studies, researches and actively participates in "Technical Innovation" competitions organized by the Brigade and Military Region 2. In 2021, he launched the initiative "Ready to fight rice distribution box", helping to shorten the time of rice distribution for each individual (reducing about 1 minute/person/distribution). Then, in 2023, Captain Nguyen Van Thang continued to research and complete the initiative "Disinfectant drying cabinet for dishes and chopsticks", contributing to improving the quality of food assurance and maintaining the health of soldiers.

What is more valuable is that Captain Nguyen Van Thang does not keep his initiatives to himself. He always keeps in mind the need to spread the movement of creative research, daring to think, daring to do, daring to innovate, and he has guided and helped the logistics assistants in the research battalions to create two more meaningful initiatives: "Fish scaler" and "Organic fertilizer bin from kitchen and dining waste".

Captain Nguyen Van Thang confided: “For me, work is creativity and that creativity must be truly practical, helping work to be faster and more effective. To do that, I always proactively learn professional knowledge in many ways, such as reading books and newspapers, visiting good models in other units, participating in online creative groups and associations... Thanks to that, I can summarize experience, turn scattered ideas into complete initiatives and flexibly apply them to the unit's practice."

With his enthusiasm, tireless work responsibility and excellent achievements, Captain Nguyen Van Thang has been awarded many certificates of merit, certificates of merit and emulation titles, including 8 consecutive years (from 2017-2024) being awarded the titles of "Emulation Fighter" and "Advanced Fighter". In particular, in 2025, he was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of National Defense for his outstanding achievements at work.
