The gold medal campaign of the 33rd SEA Games men's football of U22 Vietnam will begin with a match against U22 Laos at Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok. This is also the 4th time in 1 year that Coach Kim Sang-sik has faced his compatriot Ha Hyeok-jun. The previous three times were at the national team level (Vietnam won 4-1, 5-0 and 2-0 respectively), with the most recent match two weeks ago, where Coach Kim Sang-sik's students struggled to get the victory.

"In the past year, when I led the Vietnamese team, the matches against Laos were not easy," said the coach of U22 Vietnam. "Ha Hyeok-jun has helped Laos become much stronger. The opening match of the 33rd SEA Games on December 3 is very important for the U22 Vietnam team because it greatly affects the goal of passing the group stage. We will focus on the match and look for the best result."

The Korean strategist also praised his compatriot, saying that coach Ha Hyeok-jun did very well in many aspects, from tactics, management to organization to help Lao football progress.

"Vietnam and Laos have met many times at the national team level and we have won all of them, but I have special respect for Laos as well as Mr. Ha Hyeok-jun," coach Kim Sang-sik shared. "Tomorrow's match with the Laos U22 team will definitely not be easy. The match taking place at 4 p.m. in hot weather is also a challenge. However, we have prepared carefully both physically and mentally and always strive to improve every day towards victory."

In addition, coach Kim Sang-sik also did not forget to mention the great source of support from Vietnamese fans. "The enthusiasm of Vietnamese fans is always very strong and forms a culture, an abundant source of energy like big waves to support the team, helping us achieve the set goals," he said.

The match between U22 Vietnam and U22 Laos in Group B of men's football will take place at 4:00 p.m. on December 3 at Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok.
