After 80 years of construction and development, the University of Transport currently has a staff of more than 1,000 staff, lecturers, and workers; including more than 100 professors and associate professors; 254 PhDs, and 34 university training majors ranging from traditional to modern. The University has trained more than 150,000 engineers, bachelors, 15,000 masters and hundreds of PhDs for the country. Many people hold important positions in Party and State agencies, enterprises, international organizations, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Principal of the University of Transport, said that implementing the development strategy for the 2021-2030 period, the school is determined to realize the goal of becoming a multidisciplinary and multi-field university, affirming its leading position in the field of transport and achieving quality on par with the Asian region.

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the University of Transport.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that this is a worthy recognition, a great honor, but also a trust and a great responsibility that the Party, the State and the whole society place on the shoulders of today's generation of the school.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung said that the Government identified three strategic breakthroughs, in which science and technology development; innovation and digital transformation are the central pillars, closely linked with education and training of high-quality human resources.

Entering a new development phase, Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung suggested that the University of Transport strengthen innovation in training programs, integrating advanced content on digital technology , artificial intelligence, and big data into core majors such as smart transportation and green logistics.

At the same time, promote scientific research and technology transfer, prioritizing practical application projects such as sustainable urban traffic models, automatic seaport management systems, etc.

At the same time, the school is required to focus resources on forming laboratories, research centers, and international-class science and technology centers as the core, expanding pedagogical and creative spaces, forming an ecosystem of innovation and digital transformation; creating a "launching pad" for students, lecturers and businesses to research, innovate and commercialize scientific results.

The Deputy Prime Minister also asked the school to focus on building a team of lecturers, especially the younger generation, to increase doctoral training, support student start-ups, and build a creative school culture that is close to the community. He also noted that teachers need to continue to be role models. Students need to practice courage, creativity, and be ready to contribute to the country.
