Happy School: Where Knowledge Meets Love

GD&TĐ - Modern schools not only impart knowledge, but also nurture the souls and life skills of students.

Through initiatives such as "Parents accompany their children to class" or moral education , students learn in a happy environment where knowledge blends with love, respect, and sharing.

Parents accompany their children.

Despite being newly established, the leadership of Hoang Mai Star School (Dinh Cong, Hanoi ) remains committed to improving quality and emphasizing collaboration between the school, family, and society to create a happy school environment where each student can maximize their thinking, creativity, and dynamism. A prime example of this is the "Parents and Children Attending Classes Together" project.

Ms. Pham Bich Nga, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Hoang Mai Star School, said that the project is a traditional educational activity rich in cultural identity, in which grandparents, parents, and family members accompany teachers as "second teachers," directly teaching in the classroom, sharing about professions, expertise, and practical life skills.

This activity is part of the strategy to build a "Happy School - Community of Learning and Development" model. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school implemented 149 lessons under the project; the goal for the 2025-2026 school year is 1 lesson/class/year, aiming to spread the model throughout the entire system.

These lessons help strengthen parental involvement, creating a positive, respectful, and collaborative learning environment. Students experience knowledge connected to real life, developing their thinking skills, abilities, and character. The school becomes a dynamic, humane, and modern place where each member is an active participant in the learning and sustainable development process.

“Parents with diverse professional backgrounds such as doctors, police officers, etc., participate in classes using experiential learning methods, combining games, interaction, and discussion, helping students absorb knowledge and participate actively. Each lesson therefore becomes a memorable encounter, where knowledge is sown with love, pride, and understanding between parents, teachers, and students,” Ms. Nga emphasized.

Mr. Dao Chi Manh, Principal of Hoi Hop B Primary School (Vinh Yen, Phu Tho ), believes that a happy school requires four elements: principles, people, the teaching process, and the environment (facilities), with people playing the most important role.

To build school culture, this institution applies the 2-3-5 formula: Teachers must work responsibly and care for each other; the school administration and subject heads guide, facilitate, and encourage others to work well together; the five elements of relationship building include: love, respect, safety, understanding, and demonstrating values.

"Applying the above formula correctly will create consensus and close coordination among the school administration, teachers, students, and parents. Each person will self-reflect, make improvements if needed, and those who excel will be recognized at the end of the year, creating motivation to strive for excellence," Mr. Mạnh analyzed.

Teaching children manners from an early age.

Emphasizing the role of moral education, Ms. Tran Thi Quyen, Principal of Van Khe Primary School (Ha Dong, Hanoi), said that at the beginning of each morning, representatives of the school's management board and teachers stand at the gate to welcome students, fostering good manners and respect for teachers.

“When teachers greet them, students politely bow to their parents and teachers, entering the classroom with bright smiles. Instilling motivation and positive energy each morning helps children comfortably participate in classroom activities, gaining the approval and support of parents and contributing to creating a happy school environment,” Ms. Quyen shared.

According to Ms. Le Thi Thu Huong, Principal of Sai Dong Primary School (Phuc Loi, Hanoi), students in a modern, holistic education environment that develops skills will perceive "happy school" as a humane ideal that truly benefits people.

A happy school needs happy people: administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and students. The working environment and conditions are prioritized, creating a green, clean, beautiful, civilized, and safe school; teaching methods are innovated, and teamwork and collaboration skills are enhanced.

“Students are respected, understood, and their difficulties are shared; there is no longer pressure about grades or achievements. The physical and mental health of all members is taken care of. We strive to build a positive and friendly learning culture and environment so that everyone feels happy every day,” Ms. Huong emphasized.

Teachers flexibly apply student-centered methods, experiential learning, project-based learning, and the use of information technology, making lessons engaging and easy to understand. These 'happy classrooms' will create 'happy schools,' in which the supportive role of parents is crucial. - Mr. Nguyen Khac Hop - Principal of Dai Mo 3 Primary School (Tay Mo, Hanoi)
