Stories about family and love for the homeland's sea and islands are told in the musical film.

Speaking at the film's premiere, Rear Admiral Pham Van Luyen, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Navy, emphasized that the musical film "Truong Sa - Ben bo trong nhau" is a spiritual and cultural product with profound humanistic values about love for the country, love for the sea and islands of the homeland. The work arouses national pride and self-esteem; fosters the heroic fighting spirit of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy; builds will and strengthens the belief of our army and people in the determination to firmly protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland in the new situation. Through the songs and images in the film, the audience will feel the sacredness and great responsibility for the sovereignty of the sea and islands in general and the Truong Sa archipelago in particular.

“Truong Sa - Ben bo trong nhau” tells the story of a family of four successive generations of naval soldiers, guarding the sea and islands of the Fatherland. Besides portraying the image of the new-age naval force, the film also shares many touching stories about the sacrifices of soldiers and their rear.

The story in the film is told simply and sincerely, interwoven with songs about soldiers and love for the sea and islands of the Fatherland through the voice and performance of Meritorious Artist Khanh Hoa - singer of Thang Long Song and Dance Theater, who has been to Truong Sa 8 times and has devoted many priorities in his career to singing about the sea and islands of the Fatherland and about Truong Sa.

Journalist Tran Hong Ha, Deputy Head of the Arts Department - Vietnam Television, who directly directed and accompanied the film project, said, "Truong Sa - Ben bo trong nhau" is the largest-scale musical film project ever carried out by the Arts Department. The film was filmed for more than a month, with many scenes filmed on land, in military zones, in bays, at sea and on islands in the Truong Sa archipelago.

The film was conceived by Meritorious Artist Khanh Hoa, who co-wrote the script with musician Le Tam. “Truong Sa is a great and profound love in my life. Every time I go to Truong Sa, my emotions are deepened, motivating me to carry out this musical film project,” the singer said.

To make this musical film, the crew brought the symphony orchestra to Truong Sa to perform.

The film “Truong Sa - Ben bo trong nhau” uses 8 familiar songs but with new arrangements and delicate arrangements, suitable for the thoughts, feelings and emotions of naval soldiers as well as those in the rear: “Sending the seagulls” (Vo Thien Lan); “Love you” (Dinh Dung); “Tell me, Mom” (Xuan Binh); “That place is Truong Sa” (Xuan Nghia); “Candle of gratitude” (An Hieu); “Far away island of the Fatherland” (Quynh Hop); “Truong Sa worries” (poem by Nguyen The Ky, music by Le Duc Hung) and the medley “Love of the sea - Hello Truong Sa” (Tran Quang Huy, Luu Ha An). The leading musicians participating in the arrangement are: Tran Manh Hung, Do Bao, Minh Dao, Huyen Trung, Ngo Minh Hoang, Pho Nguyen.

The film was directed by 3 veteran directors: Phu Tran (main director), Nguyen Sy Khoa (assistant director), Trinh Minh Tuan (director of photography), with the participation of beloved actors such as: People's Artist Manh Cuong, Meritorious Artist Minh Phuong, Tien Loc, Binh An, Huyen Thach and more than 1,000 people participating in filming... In particular, the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra under the command of conductor Kim Xuan Hieu also participated in performing and filming on the ship in the middle of Truong Sa.

Director Phu Tran shared: "There is a scene that I still feel overwhelmed with emotion when I think back to it, which was when we built a large scene for Meritorious Artist Khanh Hoa to perform the song "Noi Ay La Truong Sa". At first, the idea of bringing a symphony orchestra out to the open sea, along with the Navy's equipment, we felt was quite... unrealistic. There were too many difficulties, how to know which location to film beautifully, what time for the orchestra to arrive at the filming location. When building this performance, our idea was to show the steel spirit and heroic spirit of the Vietnam Navy. The Navy supported and guided us to survey many locations, calculate the anchoring positions of the ships, and bring hundreds of personnel to the filming location...

Meritorious Artist Khanh Hoa (red shirt) is the main singer of the film. She has been to Truong Sa 8 times and has a special attachment to this sacred sea and sky.

Finally, with the help of the Navy, we were able to set up that stage, in the middle of the ocean, the entire symphony orchestra gathered on the Yet Kieu ship in Cam Ranh Bay, Navy Region 4, with two missile frigates on both sides, creating a beautiful and overwhelming scene like a dream. When the first scenes began, the dawn appeared... everyone shared the same extremely sublime emotions. Standing in the middle of the ocean, performing and enjoying a song with the heroic sound of Vietnam's seas and islands, of the Vietnam Navy, as well as the Vietnamese army... everyone was truly moved, proud and honored."

Making the musical film "Truong Sa - Ben bo trong nhau", Meritorious Artist Khanh Hoa shared that she wanted to use music to connect love to every heart, sending a message of peace to the whole world. And although bringing the entire Vietnam Symphony Orchestra to perform on a ship in the middle of the ocean is not easy, quite difficult and arduous, she believes that the combination with a symphony orchestra - a new type of global music - is enough to fully convey the message of peace that she sent and depict the great contributions, dedication and sacrifices of naval soldiers in general and island soldiers in particular.

The film will be broadcast at 2:10 p.m. on August 4, 2024 on VTV1 and widely promoted on mass media on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the first victory of the Vietnam People's Navy and the army and people of the North./.
