Collecting taxes from more than 25,000 online business cases

The Ministry of Finance said that in the first five months of the year, tax authorities had reviewed nearly 165,000 taxpayers doing business via e-commerce. More than 25,000 individuals and business households were charged over VND330 billion.

Regarding tax treatment of e-commerce business activities, Ministry of Finance said that it has reviewed more than 164,660 taxpayers, collecting a total of 747 billion VND. Of which, the tax sector has processed additional collection from businesses, the amount of more than 416 billion VND. Individuals and business households have 25,201 cases with the amount of more than 330 billion VND.

In the past five months, tax revenue from organizations and individuals doing business in e-commerce and digital economy reached 74,400 billion VND, up 55% over the same period in 2024. Of which, 158 foreign suppliers registered, declared and paid taxes via the electronic information portal of 5,700 billion VND, up 41% over the same period. 100,000 households and individuals doing business via the electronic information portal paid nearly 1,100 billion VND.

Nearly 93,000 organizations and individuals have activities e-commerce business In the first 5 months of the year, 67,600 billion VND in taxes were paid.

In a recent open letter to taxpayers, the tax authority recommends that business owners, legal representatives of businesses; representatives business household, individual business E-commerce and digital business proactively approach and learn about tax laws and comply with tax registration, tax declaration and tax payment according to regulations.

Individuals who have been doing e-commerce business or doing business on digital platforms but have not yet registered for tax need to urgently register, declare and pay taxes fully, on time and promptly to the tax authorities.

In case of not receiving cooperation from Taxpayers and the tax industry will inspect and strictly handle businesses that do not perform or do not fully perform their tax obligations as prescribed.

In cases of intentional non-compliance, the tax authority will consolidate the records and transfer them to the competent authority to investigate and handle tax evasion in accordance with the provisions of law.
