The reticulated python weighed 6kg when received and was in good health. This python species has the scientific name Python reticulatus, and is listed as a rare, precious, and endangered forest animal in group IIB, as stipulated in Decree No. 84/2021/ND-CP dated September 22, 2021 of the Government on the management of rare, precious, and endangered forest plants and animals.

This is the second time Mr. Hoang Ton Bao Thien has proactively contacted the Nam Dong District Forest Protection Department with the desire to hand over a wild animal to release it back into the wild. The Nam Dong District Forest Protection Department will complete the required procedures to release this reticulated python back into the wild as soon as possible.
