Accept being told 'old, out of date'
- Recording 34 songs, filming more than 30 MVs, the amount of money you had to spend on the project "Vietnam - The Era of Rising" must not be small?
If it's material, I can't calculate because the effort that the musicians and crew put into each song is too great. Regarding the budget, I can handle it, it's not too difficult to mention.
- The MV "Vietnam - Green Journey" made with artificial intelligence (AI) may cause controversy, what do you think?
I am interested in and apply technology because this factor is always innovating in every stage.
When entering the data, I put in many photos, describing myself very clearly, but the result still showed that Nguyen Vu AI was too young. However, we understand that artificial intelligence is never 100% similar to real life, so we should not be too critical. If I need an image that is true to Nguyen Vu in real life, I will go shoot it quickly.
What I care about when using AI is the aesthetics and the ability to convey the desired intention. Thanks to AI, my MV has a lot of beautiful natural scenes without spending time and effort on actual filming.

Having done a community project with a spirit of dedication, I am not afraid of praise or criticism. I did not make the most beautiful or best AI MV, but my ability can only do so much, I accept it, whoever can do better can do it.
However, when doing community projects, I believe that praise, dissemination and sharing are more necessary. The product only gets 5-6 points but it is all my passion and heart that I put into it.
- Why is this project missing famous musicians you have worked with?
I always give young musicians a chance because famous musicians were also once new. Musician Nguyen Van Chung once shared that the first time he sent music to many artists, only I responded. And he received his first music fee from me.
Many young people have nurtured their feelings and thoughts in their musical compositions but have no place to express them and are not appreciated by anyone. I am a singer known to many audiences. When I contacted them, they were more confident that "Mr. Nguyen Vu asked for help".
Nguyen Vu burst into tears when talking about relatives who suddenly passed away.
- During the press conference, he told directors and musicians "if you have any projects, don't hesitate to call me", which could be misunderstood as a public request for a show...
Because I'm so busy, my colleagues often assume that I'm hard to invite and that the cost is high. I take the initiative to change people's thinking to: "Nguyen Vu is very enthusiastic, just invite him and he'll come."
I'm not afraid of being told I'm out of the show, I'm old anyway. (laughs) If anyone says I'm out of date, I'll accept it.
In this profession, I always accept the old bamboo and the new bamboo, the new wave pushing the old wave. I know clearly what I have done, where I am now and do not pay attention to gossip anymore.
The pain of a soul mate suddenly passing away
- When mentioning the passing of your friends, you burst into tears. Do you remember your soulmate, model and designer Nam Phong?
Life is so unpredictable. We sit here talking today, maybe tomorrow we will say goodbye forever.
What happened made me love life more and want to share more of what I have with those around me. Because if I leave tomorrow, I won't be able to take anything with me.

There was a time when I felt empty and sad, not posting anything on Facebook for 5-6 days straight. Many acquaintances and colleagues passed away, some of them very young, making everything I did feel rushed.
I do this project to comfort and console myself. For many years, I have been so focused on work, there were days when I worked late, there were trips abroad for 1-2 months that I forgot about my family.
When I was busy with domestic projects, I refused invitations to perform in the US, Canada, Europe... so I had more time to spend with my mother.
For a long time, I lived with the thought that no matter where I went or what I did, my mother would still be there waiting for me. It was the losses around me that made me realize, fear losing my mother, and reduce my work to spend time with her.
Every day, I make a menu and choose each dish because my mother is a vegetarian and very picky. When I come home from work, I keep the habit of kissing my mother to relieve the craving!

- Usually, people suddenly burst into tears because they are already lonely and hurt inside. Is this true for you?
For a long time, I realized that I live for the name Nguyen Vu more than for myself. This is the name I built with a lot of sweat, effort, and tears for more than 30 years from the beginning of my career until now.
Perhaps, everyone also favors keeping the name Nguyen Vu so beautiful that I'm afraid of affecting it in everything I do.
At a certain age, after coming home from work, I lock myself in four walls and do whatever I like: eat, watch movies, listen to music...
It's not loneliness, it's enjoyment. Every night, I cover myself with a blanket, turn on the air conditioner, turn up the volume, sit in front of the big screen to watch a horror movie, scare myself, and yet I feel at peace.
I am both extroverted and introverted. When I go to work, I am outgoing and friendly with everyone, but when I come home, I just want to lock myself in my room.

- At 50, are you still concerned about not being married and having children?
I believe everyone has their own corner that they don't want others to touch.
No one is sure that two people can be together forever. I don't want people to have to live with the label "Nguyen Vu's ex-wife" after breaking up. It's very difficult for them.
So I keep my other half in an untouchable corner, making sure they are always safe. In return, I don't hide anything about myself.
I need a peaceful place to return to - where I'm not a singer, can eat what I like, do what I want in the most leisurely way.
