Vietnam women's futsal team lost to China

The Vietnamese women's futsal team lost 3-4 to China in a penalty shootout in a friendly match before entering the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship.

On the evening of May 3, the Vietnamese women's futsal team (ranked 11th in the world ) had a friendly match with host China (ranked 24th in the world).

In the first half, the most notable situation created by the Vietnamese women's futsal team was K'Thua's shot that hit the crossbar of the Chinese women's futsal team's goal in the 7th minute.

In the second half, the match speed was pushed up when both teams actively competed to launch attacks. But only the Chinese women's futsal team was successful when they scored 2 goals in the 26th and 27th minutes.

Conceding two goals, the Vietnamese women's futsal team tried hard to find a counter-attack opportunity. In the 31st minute, Bien Thi Hang coordinated well with captain Trinh Nguyen Thanh Hang before finishing beautifully to reduce the score to 1-2.

Then, Thu Xuan passed the ball smoothly, helping Pho Ngoc Thanh Thy to score the equalizer 2-2.

After a 2-2 draw after 40 minutes of official play, the two teams had to enter a penalty shootout. As a result, the home team won 4-3 against the Vietnamese women's futsal team.

Although the result was not as expected against a lower-ranked opponent, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's futsal team also highly appreciated the players' spirit of not giving up and their ability to break away after falling behind.

Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang shared: "The players did not catch up with the game quickly and did not fully adapt after the journey, leading to two early goals. In the second half, the spirit improved significantly and brought better results."

On May 4, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's futsal team will analyze and propose solutions to fix current errors before entering the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship, which will also take place here.

The 2025 Asian Women’s Futsal Championship will take place from May 7 to 18 in Inner Mongolia (China). The Vietnamese women’s futsal team in Group B will face Hong Kong (May 7), the Philippines (May 9) and Iran (May 11).

The top two teams in each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.

The top three teams (champion, runner-up and third place) will qualify for the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup taking place later this year in the Philippines.
