The vital National Highway 217 - Na Meo International Border Gate reopens to traffic

Mr. Lu Van Ha, Chairman of the People's Committee of Trung Ha Commune (Thanh Hoa Province) said that immediately after discovering the landslide on National Highway 217 to Na Meo International Border Gate, causing traffic disruption, on the morning of October 7, the authorities mobilized human resources and machinery to the scene to fix the problem. By noon on October 7, the road was reopened to traffic.

It is known that this landslide is located at Km22-Km23 of National Highway 217 through Tong village (Trung Ha commune) with a length of about 30m. At the landslide location, mud and trees spilled onto the road, completely cutting off traffic, the volume of landslide is estimated at about 40-50 m3. Previously, storm No. 10 also caused a landslide at this location, the authorities had just finished fixing it when on the morning of October 7, the landslide continued to occur.

Heavy rain on the night of October 6 and 7 also caused serious landslides on National Highway 15C at Km84+800 through Pu Nhi commune and Km97+540 through Muong Lat commune (in the old Muong Lat highland district). Hundreds of cubic meters of soil and rock from the positive slopes spilled onto the road, causing local traffic jams, many vehicles could not move. In addition, many traffic routes in the villages were also eroded.

Faced with the above situation, the Thanh Hoa Department of Construction has directed functional units and construction contractors to mobilize machinery, vehicles and human resources to focus on overcoming the incident, prioritizing leveling and clearing rocks and soil to soon clear the route, ensure traffic safety and meet the temporary travel needs of the people.
