Tuyen Quang focuses on improving the quality of teaching and learning

Identifying comprehensive innovation in education and training as a key task, contributing to improving the quality of human resources and promoting local socio -economic development, the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress of Tuyen Quang, term 2020-2025, set out the goal of "Maintaining and improving the quality of universal education at all levels; improving the quality of mass education and key education; increasing the rate of mobilizing children to attend nurseries, kindergartens, and non-public preschools and the quality of child care, education and care".

To implement the Resolution's goals, right from the beginning of the term, the education sector has advised the province to implement many solutions to consolidate and maintain the achievements of universal education at all levels.

By the middle of the 2020-2025 term, 100% of communes, wards and towns in the province will have met the standards of universal preschool education for 5-year-old children, universal primary and secondary education at level 2 or higher, achieving the targets set out in the Resolution.

Mr. Vu Dinh Hung, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Tuyen Quang province, said that up to now, the rate of schools meeting national standards has reached 63.2%, higher than the national average (59.5%). The whole province currently has 7 ethnic boarding schools and 39 semi-boarding schools; the rate of ethnic minority students studying in ethnic boarding schools and semi-boarding schools is 18.2%.

By the end of October 2024, the rate of mobilizing children to go to kindergarten reached 50.8%, 34.6% higher than the national average ; the rate of mobilizing preschool children reached 100%. The rate of primary school students studying 2 sessions/day reached 78.2%. The high school graduation rate of the province increased compared to every year, in 2024 it reached 99.58%, ranking first in the country in terms of average score in Chemistry and Biology and ranked 22nd out of 63 provinces and cities; ranked 3rd out of 14 provinces in the northern midland and mountainous region. The quality and number of awards in the national excellent student selection exam increased, in the 2023-2024 school year, the province won 55 awards (12 second prizes, 20 third prizes and 23 consolation prizes), ranked 5th out of 14 provinces in the northern midland and mountainous region in terms of the number of awards; one student was allowed to participate in the exam to form a team to compete in the International Olympic competition.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Tuyen Quang Specialized High School has been moved to a new learning location with a total investment of more than 255 billion VND with a scale of 38 classrooms, full facilities, open and modern space compared to other schools in the province as well as the region. This is also an important driving force to build the school into an educational highlight, contributing to ensuring working environment conditions, improving the quality of teaching and learning of teachers and students, serving the training of national and international excellent student teams, and training high-quality human resources of Tuyen Quang province.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, Principal of Tuyen Quang Specialized High School, said that in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning, the school has reviewed and arranged teaching content to suit actual conditions to create conditions for teachers to innovate methods and improve teaching quality. The two-session teaching program distribution has been built to ensure it is suitable for the school's organizational conditions. Teaching is organized based on the knowledge and skills standards of the general education program and the specialized program, meeting the requirements of graduation exam preparation and training for excellent students.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Hang added that for two consecutive years, the school's project won first prize in the National Science and Technology Competition for high school students and was selected for the International Science and Technology Competition. In particular, in the 2022-2023 school year, the project "Research on the synthesis of super absorbent polymer materials based on cassava starch and the application of fire-resistant hydrogel preparations" was selected. In the 2023-2024 school year, the project "Green synthesis of nanocomposite materials for photocatalyst application to treat herbicide residues in aquatic environments" won first prize in the competition and continued to be selected to participate in the International Science and Technology Fair (ISEF) in the United States in 2024.

In the past three years, Nguyen Van Huyen High School, Tuyen Quang city has focused on implementing the industry's plan to improve the quality of mass education. The school's students are mainly from suburban communes and Yen Son and Son Duong districts. Many students have to travel more than 10km from home to school, and come from families with difficult circumstances. The quality of admission is uneven, the school's admission scores are often lower than those of schools in the city center, so the quality of education is always a concern for the school's board of directors. To overcome the difficulties, the school has tested students' academic performance to evaluate and classify them immediately after enrollment, and then divided them into groups according to their academic ability to arrange teachers to teach outside of class hours.

The Board of Directors has also established an advisory group consisting of board members, union representatives, youth union and subject group leaders, and excellent teachers to regularly check and evaluate changes in students' learning process; coordinate with the Parents' Association to visit and learn about each student's situation to have timely measures to encourage and help...

With many creative measures, teachers always focus on improving teaching methods in a positive direction to increase the effectiveness of teaching hours. Knowledge extracurricular sessions in many rich forms: Learning and preventing social evils, life skills,... have attracted a large number of students to participate. Thereby, building students' awareness of communication, learning from each other, finding the best and most suitable way to study for themselves. The Board of Directors directs the professional team to coordinate with the school's union to continuously organize competitions for good study, good training, and organize group study forms... Students who study according to new methods are promoted to be independent and self-reliant, so they are confident, interested, positive, and achieve better results;

To improve the quality of learning for students, the school has advised them to choose the university entrance exam block right from the beginning of the grade, from which there is a basis for arranging suitable and scientific teachers; Teachers train students to be aware of comprehensive learning, not rote learning, biased learning; from there, they can find their own direction to achieve learning results. On the other hand, to improve the overall quality, the school organizes exams to select and train excellent students according to the annual plan, focusing on organizing tutoring for weak students and policy students, so the quality of students is significantly improved. Therefore, the quality of students' learning is significantly improved.

As a non-public school in the province, Le Van Tam Primary School, Tuyen Quang city always actively innovates professional management and educational methods, promotes emulation movements, and improves the overall quality of education of the school. This is also the school that has won many medals of all kinds in international Olympic competitions.

Teacher Nguyen Viet Hai, Principal of Le Van Tam Primary School, said that the school has won 970 awards and medals at provincial, national and international competitions. To achieve these results, the school has invited prestigious experts from advanced educational institutions in and outside the province to train teachers on knowledge and skills to nurture excellent students.

Since 2016, Tuyen Quang province has implemented the Project to rearrange schools and classrooms associated with the arrangement of the number of employees for preschool and general education in the province for the period 2017-2021 and the Plan to rearrange schools, school locations, and classrooms for preschool and general education in the province for the period 2021-2025. By the end of the 2023-2024 school year, the whole province has reduced 197 schools and classrooms.

The goal by 2025 is to strive to reduce 37 more schools. The rearrangement of schools and classrooms has helped students study in a more spacious environment, while contributing to improving the quality of education in the province. The rate of good and excellent students has increased, and the number of dropouts has decreased significantly.

Mr. Vu Dinh Hung, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Tuyen Quang province, added that the Department has implemented many synchronous solutions to improve the quality of education at all levels in the province. The Provincial People's Council has issued a policy to attract high-quality human resources to contribute to the province, by supporting excellent and excellent graduates of regular pedagogical universities from 180-250 million VND. From 2022 to now, the education and training sector has attracted 117 people. This is an important driving force to improve the quality of comprehensive education, especially key education of general schools.

In the coming time, the Department will continue to promote and improve the effectiveness of the Provincial Professional Advisory Group. Resolutely direct schools to develop high school graduation exam review plans that are close to reality and differentiate students from the beginning of the school year. Increase the application of software and teaching platforms to support teaching and learning, especially software for assigning assignments and online exam preparation.

The results that the education and training sector of Tuyen Quang has achieved over time have contributed to the effective implementation of Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 4, 2013 of the Party Central Committee "on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization in the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration", so that Tuyen Quang education can gradually create a brand, affirming its position in the Northern midland and mountainous provinces in particular and the whole country in general.
