War Invalids and Martyrs Day, July 27 every year, is an important commemorative day with profound humanistic significance. This is an occasion for the entire Party, people and army to respectfully remember and pay tribute to revolutionary predecessors, heroic martyrs, and outstanding sons of the nation who fought bravely and sacrificed heroically; to be grateful to the war invalids who devoted part of their blood and bones to the cause of national liberation and reunification, as well as to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Promoting the tradition of "filial piety and charity", "When drinking water, remember the source, when eating fruit, remember the person who planted the tree", expressing respect and gratitude to those who sacrificed and contributed to the independence, unification and freedom of the Fatherland for the happiness of the people, the Party and the State have issued many preferential policies for people with revolutionary contributions. After 75 years of implementing policies, preferential policies for people with revolutionary contributions and their families have been studied, supplemented and adjusted in accordance with the socio -economic conditions of the country in each period. The implementation results show that the confirmation and settlement of preferential policies for people with revolutionary contributions have achieved positive results. Up to now, the whole country has confirmed over 9.2 million people with meritorious contributions, of which: People who participated in the revolution before January 1, 1945: nearly 9,000 people; Revolutionary activists from January 1, 1945 to before the general uprising on August 19, 1945: 16,500 people; martyrs: nearly 1.2 million people; relatives of martyrs: nearly 500,000 people; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers: over 117,000 people; People's Armed Forces Heroes, Labor Heroes: nearly 1,300 people; War invalids and people enjoying policies like war invalids: nearly 600,000 people; Class B war invalids: over 40,000 people; sick soldiers: nearly 185,000 people; resistance activists and their children infected with toxic chemicals: nearly 312,000 people; revolutionary activists and resistance activists imprisoned and exiled by the enemy: nearly 111,000 people; people with meritorious services to the revolution: 1,897,000 people; People who participated in the resistance war to liberate the nation, protect the Fatherland and perform international duties: nearly 4.1 million people. Currently, the whole country has over 1.4 million meritorious people and their relatives receiving monthly preferential allowances; through review, basically meritorious people have fully enjoyed the regimes and policies of the Party and State.
The 13th National Congress of the Party affirmed that in the coming years, we will continue to: "Implement social policies well, ensure social security and welfare, human security, create strong changes in social development management, achieve social progress and justice, improve the quality of life and happiness of the people..."
Together with the people of the whole country, in recent years, with the attention of Party committees at all levels, authorities at all levels and the whole society, the work of organizing and implementing preferential policies and taking care of people with meritorious services to the revolution in Lang Son province has achieved many achievements, contributing to improving and enhancing the quality of life for people with meritorious services, typically movements such as: Building gratitude houses, giving savings books; organizing to send people with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs to concentrated nursing care according to the regime; establishing a social protection fund; receiving and supporting dozens of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, lonely and weak parents of martyrs; sponsoring martyrs' children; implementing well the preferential social policies for children of martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers... These are meaningful and practical actions, aiming to promptly encourage and motivate policy beneficiaries, creating conditions for them to continue to contribute their efforts to society as Uncle Ho once taught "Wounded soldiers are disabled but not useless".
Practically commemorating the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, these days, organizations, individuals and unions have been organizing activities to care for and widely propagate to raise awareness and fully implement the Party and State's policies and guidelines on preferential treatment for people with revolutionary contributions, therebyeducating the tradition of patriotism and revolutionary heroism for cadres, party members and all classes of people, especially the young generation . Promoting the nation's morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking water", determined to make the work of caring for war invalids, families of martyrs and people with revolutionary contributions a beautiful feature in the daily life of each person. Worthily repaying the great sacrifices of generations of fathers and brothers for the peaceful, free, prosperous and happy life of the Vietnamese people today./.
