Vietnam U23 team hopes for overseas Vietnamese striker

(NLDO) - Midfielder Viktor Le has not made an impression in his first time wearing the U23 Vietnam shirt at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Tournament but is expected to shine in the final match.

Before the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, Vietnamese-American midfielder Viktor Le affirmed that U23 Vietnam is well prepared both professionally and mentally, with the determination to win.

Viktor wore the U23 Vietnam team jersey for the first time to participate in an international tournament, but quickly caught up and integrated with the team thanks to knowing how to improve his Vietnamese.

The striker of Ha Tinh Club said: "When entering the field, everyone wants to win. No matter what match, we want to win. Hopefully the whole team will have a good performance against U23 Indonesia."

The 2003-born player also said that he fully meets the professional requirements of coach Kim Sang-sik. "I try to listen and follow coach Kim's instructions to help the team as much as possible. I thank coach Kim for always giving useful advice. Thanks to that, I feel like I'm improving every day," Viktor added.

Viktor Le is expected to create a surprise in the final match.

During his time training with the Vietnam U23 team, Viktor Le impressed with his skillful individual technique, dangerous long-range shooting skills and sharp vision. He is also one of the players with impressive physique and physique in the Vietnam U23 team, with a height of 1.78m.

Evaluating the opponent in the final match, Viktor Le admitted that U23 Indonesia is a difficult team to play against, but the U23 Vietnam team is completely confident of winning the match. "We have only conceded 2 goals since the beginning of the tournament. The whole team always maintains confidence in every minute, every match. Indonesia is a strong opponent, but we will play our best" - Viktor Le commented.

When asked about the possibility of the final going into a nerve-wracking penalty shootout, Viktor Le calmly replied: “Penalty is just a part of the game. What’s important is how we perform in the 90 minutes. Hopefully U23 Vietnam can settle the match in regulation time, and if it has to go into a penalty shootout, there’s nothing to worry about.”

The final match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Indonesia will take place at 8:00 p.m. on July 29 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (Jakarta). This is the third consecutive time U23 Vietnam has participated in the final match of the tournament, after winning the championship twice in 2022 and 2023.
