Samsung's 2025 OLED TVs Get Real Black Certification from VDE

Samsung announced that its 2025 OLED TV (model S95F) has been awarded Real Black certification by Verband der Elektrotechnik (VDE) – Germany's leading electrotechnical certification institute.

Meeting the rigorous standards to be certified as Real Black confirms that Samsung’s OLED technology delivers a picture experience with true-to-life blacks and vivid details. “The Real Black certification is awarded only to displays that pass our most rigorous evaluations,” said Ansgar Hinz, President and CEO of VDE. “Samsung’s OLEDs stand out for their ability to maintain deep, accurate blacks in a wide range of lighting conditions, from home theaters to brightly lit living rooms.”

This certification validates the OLED display’s ability to display sharp, non-reflective images with near-perfect black levels (less than 0.005 nits in dark environments), while maintaining accurate blacks even in brightly lit rooms or under direct sunlight. The result is crystal clear, crisp images with deep, detailed, and realistic blacks.

To achieve this certification, the S95F OLED TV series has undergone a rigorous evaluation process for its ability to reproduce “true” blacks in a variety of viewing conditions, through three main tests: Ambient Light Impact in Bright Rooms: Evaluates the level of distraction caused by light reflections to viewers when watching content. Black Level in Dark Environments: Tests black display performance in dark rooms, ensuring it meets the standard of ≤ 0.005 nits.
