High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences (University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) enrolls students nationwide, conduct and academic performance in all years of secondary school from Good and above, graduating from secondary school from Good and above.

The school recruits 540 students for 5 specialized classes including Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Information Technology, Physics and High Quality class, each class has 90 students.

The school received 2,975 applications for both first and second choices, with an average competition ratio of 6.61. The competition ratio for the IT specialized class was the highest at 9.93, followed by the Math specialized class at 1 to 7.

The school has two forms of admission: admission by selection and entrance exam. Accordingly, the school reserves a maximum of 10% of the quota for direct admission of students with exceptionally excellent achievements such as first prize winners in provincial competitions for excellent students. Particularly for the IT major, the direct admission criteria are students who have won first prize in the National Youth IT Competition or first prize in provincial Mathematics.

In addition, students with recommendation letters from teachers who have directly taught or trained excellent students and comments on the student's abilities will be used to review and evaluate the application.

In the entrance exam format, each candidate can register for a maximum of two out of five specialized classes: Mathematics, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Candidates should note that they cannot register for two specialized classes with the same specialized exam time.

Candidates will have two rounds of exams. In round 1, all candidates must take two general exams: Literature and Math, with a duration of 120 minutes for each subject.

Round 2: Candidates will take the specialized subject exam corresponding to the specialized class they registered for, with a duration of 150 minutes. Candidates who register for two specialized classes will have to take two specialized subjects (without overlapping exam times).

The exam format is multiple choice combined with essay for Literature (round 1), essay for the remaining subjects. The exam period is from June 4 to 5.

The high-quality class is for candidates who have taken the entrance exam for specialized classes with a score of 4 points or higher in the two subjects of Literature and Mathematics (round 1). Candidates who are qualified and have registered for admission to the high-quality 10th grade will take part in a comprehensive competency assessment test (in the form of an objective test within 60 minutes) and a direct interview (in the form of an exchange, dialogue about the purpose, wishes, academic achievements, talents, etc.)
