Localities speed up rabies vaccination for livestock.

It is known that since the beginning of the year, rabies has occurred in 6 communes of Bat Xat, Bao Thang districts, Sa Pa town and Lao Cai city. According to the specialized agency, the epidemic is becoming more complicated, occurring in livestock in the province that have not been vaccinated, with the risk of spreading widely, causing economic losses to livestock farmers and the health and lives of people.

To proactively implement measures to prevent and control animal rabies, manage dog and cat herds, and increase the rate of rabies vaccination, the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Environment) has established a working group to inspect and urge rabies prevention and control, speed up vaccination and manage dog and cat herds in localities.

Strengthen propaganda work on rabies situation, risks and rabies prevention measures for people.

The People's Committees of communes, wards and towns have actively participated in and strictly implemented the declaration of livestock activities according to the provisions of the Law on Livestock (raising 1 dog or cat must also declare livestock activities); developed regulations on raising and managing dog herds; established a logbook and updated information, accurately counted the number of households raising dogs and the number of dogs raised; organized screening and vaccination to ensure that 100% of the total number of dogs subject to vaccination must be vaccinated against rabies. At the same time, they instructed and required dog owners to commit to properly and fully implementing the regulations on raising, confining and managing, especially the declaration, vaccination and prevention of rabies.

Along with that, the specialized sector strengthens propaganda work on the situation of rabies, risks and measures to prevent rabies; propagates and mobilizes to ensure that 100% of cases exposed to rabies are treated preventively according to regulations of the health sector.

In addition to raising public awareness, the specialized sector has proactively prepared a stock of medicines and supplies for the rabies vaccination campaign for dogs and cats. After the concentrated vaccination campaign, vaccination will be carried out until the end of this year. After vaccinating dogs and cats, households will be granted rabies vaccination certificates for their pets for local management.
