Specifically, the rate of households using hygienic water reached 95.3%; the rate of households using clean water meeting technical standards reached only 47% (of which 16.1% came from centralized water supply works and 30.9% came from household water supply works).

Particularly for the poor household group, the rate of using hygienic water reached 94.8%; the rate of poor households using clean water that meets standards reached only 8%, of which 3.9% came from centralized water supply works and 4.1% came from household water supply works.
By 2024, the average domestic water supply per capita will reach 60 liters/person/day and night, basically meeting the essential needs of rural people.

The current operation of centralized rural water supply works still has many limitations: only 4.6% of works are assessed as sustainable, 21.3% are relatively sustainable, while up to 52.5% are unsustainable and 21.6% are not operating.

The above results are implemented according to the set of indicators issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Decision 1893/QD-BNN-TL dated June 24, 2024, to serve the work of monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the clean water supply and rural sanitation program for the period up to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of districts, towns, cities and related units based on the above results, annually develop plans and implement them to ensure the achievement of the set targets and indicators and review, report and update information on the Rural Clean Water Monitoring and Evaluation Index in Lao Cai province according to regulations.
