Entering the final match at Manahan Stadium in Surakarta (Indonesia), the two teams U17 Germany and U17 France played carefully and tested each other because of the importance of this confrontation as well as each side knowing their opponent well because the two teams had met at the previous U17 European tournament.
It was not until midway through the first half that Germany U17 began to actively press the French U17 field. As a result, they scored the opening goal from the 11m mark thanks to Paris Brunner in the 29th minute.
In the beginning of the second half, U17 Germany continued to dominate the game. In the 51st minute, Noah Darvich scored to double the gap.
Trailing by two goals, the French players regrouped and attacked. Just two minutes later, in the 53rd minute, Saimon Bouabre scored to reduce the score to 1-2.
The drama did not stop there. In the 69th minute, U17 Germany was reduced to 10 men after Osawe's red card. Taking advantage, U17 France pushed up their formation to suffocate the opponent, and their efforts were rewarded with an equalizer in the 85th minute, with Amougou scoring.
Tied 2-2 after 90 minutes of official play, instead of playing extra time, according to tournament regulations, the two teams went straight into a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.
Here, with better spirit, U17 Germany won with a score of 4-3, thereby officially winning the U17 World Cup 2023 for the first time. Before that, U17 Mali surprisingly defeated U17 Argentina with a score of 3-0 to win third place.
In the end, Germany U17 won the title for the first time after two appearances in the U17 World Cup final. This title helps Germany become the first European country to win two U17 Euro 2023 and U17 World Cup 2023 titles in 1 year.
In addition, Paris Brunner of Germany U17 also won the Golden Ball award. Although the French team only finished second, goalkeeper Paul Argney still won the title of best goalkeeper./.
