U19 wins big in Southeast Asia tournament

(PLVN) - Vietnam U19 women's team has good results before the Southeast Asian tournament.

The 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Football Championship will take place from June 9 to June 18 in Ho Chi Minh City, organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation. Eight teams will be divided into two groups and compete in a round-robin format. The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals, followed by the third-place match and the final.

In this tournament, the U19 Vietnamese women's team is in Group A with opponents Myanmar, Laos and Timor Leste. Group B includes Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Malaysia.

Mr. Okiyama Masahiko's students are practicing and playing friendly matches to best prepare for the tournament. The U19 women's team has had 2 victories against Au Lac and U19 women's team of Ho Chi Minh City.

In the 2022 season, Hoang Van scored 5 goals and continued to aim to contribute as much as possible to the overall achievement. At this tournament, she expressed her determination to conquer: “The whole team is working hard every day on the training ground. Last season, we reached the final but could not win the championship, which is a regret. This time, the whole team is very determined, aiming for the best result.”

According to coach Okiyama, the whole team is working hard every day to reach the highest goal at the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship, but he also emphasized that we must not be subjective: "Every match is important. Myanmar and Thailand are considered to be on par with us, so we need to analyze carefully and prepare thoroughly."

Affirming his determination, he added: “The tournament is held in Vietnam, and our goal is to win the championship. I want Vietnamese audiences to be able to celebrate with the team.”
