By the end of March 2025, Long Xuyen City had completed the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, handing over 60 houses to households, helping them settle down and stabilize their lives (of which, 42 houses were newly built and 18 houses were repaired). The houses all have ceramic tile floors, walls, reinforced and prefabricated concrete frames, and corrugated iron roofs, ensuring the 3 hard criteria according to regulations, with a total implementation cost of over 4.2 billion VND from social mobilization, local self-reliance, and advance funds from the Gratitude Fund.
Acknowledging and praising the achievements, especially the sense of responsibility of the Steering Committees of wards and communes in the process of implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city Nguyen Thanh Quang suggested that wards and communes learn about the livelihoods of households that have just received housing support under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; grasp the thoughts and aspirations of families regarding economic development and income improvement, thereby having appropriate livelihood support solutions, so that they can work hard and gradually improve their lives.
At the same time, continue to review households with housing difficulties to include them in the annual Great Unity house building and repair plan, helping them settle down, stabilize their lives, and contribute to the construction and development of Long Xuyen City to become more and more prosperous.
